If it's against the law, it's unlawful. I'm sorry to hear about your son's dilemma, but it doesn't make sense to fight fire with fire.
You need to have a talk with your son about not taking the law into his hands. I know he wasn't intending to use or initiate a fight, but a pair of scissors is not any different from a knife. There are other ways around confronting people like these. Hope things work out for you and him.

Sounds like a lot of people that don't have children are answering your question.
Rules are sometime tough but they are there for a reason.
School is a place to learn and not about fighting.
Were the other children talked to by the sheriff?

Looks like adults need to step in and get control of the violence in school, Who ae the children who threatened him? Do they not play a part in this drama? Shouldn't they be brought before the principal and the police? Why are the kids allowed to develop a culture of vioence without adult intervention?

How old is your son. Sounds like he is old enough to know what he is doing. Just a bad choice. He should go to the principal of the school if he feels some one is going to jump him. And to the police if he thinks it is going to happen off school property. Sorry he did the crime, he has to pay the time. I hope it is not too severe. The children that threatened him should be punished also.

I don't know what you want to hear from people, but it your son is a younger boy, he needs to know he can come to you and his other parent if he has trouble at school for helpl. If he had spoken with you, you would have know he felt threatened and bullied, and you could have spoken with the school before this happened. But since it did happen, he has to learn that his actions have consequences, and he should accept any punishment, and learn from it. You should learn from it too- communicate with your kids!

Arent scissors a standard school supply that could have come from his desk and he mistakenly had it in his pocket after using it on a art project in class. Has he know smarts what-so-ever? He could have gotten away with this scott free, he deserves to be in trouble for being so stupid

What is your question? It kind of sounds like you're just ranting about what happened to your kid. But, I do think that what happened sounds really stupid. I can't believe that scissors are considered a weapon.

What's your question?
I at first thought, well now this is silly but when your son said he needed them for protection and that he was just going to show them to scare the kids... well, then they became a weapon.
If a kid took a gun to school that he said he needed because he was going to get jumped and that he only planned on showing it to scare kids and never used it... well, wouldn't that still be a weapon?
