Science can be difficult. First, have a plan for your parents -- to let them know you are concerned and plan to do something to correct this situation. Such as, 1) Go and meet with your teacher after school and ask what you can do to improve your grades -- besides studying more -- there may be things you don't understand and need to be explained to you -- that is the teacher's job; 2) Have your parents sign the form....AND also have them .... and YOU....sign a contract that you write up that states how often you will study (i.e. 1 hour per night), you will meet with the teacher at least once a week and go over any homework or things you don't understand; 3) you will attain a certain grade, perhaps a C, in the next grading period or there will be a consequence that your parents can determine.

You need to work with YOURSELF, your parents, and your teacher! You are a team. Science is something that is difficult to master unless you keep up with it on a daily basis. And if you don't understand one part right away, then immediately go to the teacher after school and ask for clarification -- with science, each piece of knowledge fits together like a puzzle -- you need to view it like a videogame -- you need to know which piece to put in first before you can solve the rest. Therefore, the teacher is an important piece of that puzzle.

Don't be afraid to ask for help (that is a teacher's job); let your parents know that you are concerned about your grades and plan to make them better; explain to both your parents and the teachers what you will do to learn the material better; and be sure to write up a contract so that you feel obligated to follow through.

By just asking this question here, I feel that you have a conscience about this "mistake" and that you want to do better. Therefore, set up the circumstances so that your next grading period will be a success!

Tell your parents the truth before the conferences. Tell them you need some extra help in science and coming up with a plan to get your grade up. And yeah, I gotta agree with the others, you are going to have to study.

No wonder you got an F. Have your parents sign your progress report and spend less time on Y!A and more time in the books. What's so mysterious about that?

Well first of well, if you didn't want a F, you should have studied for your tests and do you homework and then you would have got a higher grade. Just tell your parents that you tried your best and i just made few mistakes and i will try hard next quater and i think they would understand.

Like mentioned in answers before mine, please discuss this with your most "softhearted" parent first, stress your being upset, that this does matter to you and that you need their help.

See if they will agree to you getting some tutoring, either sponsored through the school or independent. Any grade less than C will damage your hopes of a decent college entry. The sooner you work on this, the better. Maybe one of your fellow students can mentor you for a small fee?

Promise to do better, and carry through on it.

Regaining lost trust is exceptionally difficult, and pulling up grades is one of the easier ways to do it.

make the f your enemy and say to yourself that if you ever achieve something as bad as that again then something terrible will happen. I do not believe in this method for anything but if your desperate scare it into yourself and it works
