hey.. are you asian..?
cos I'm asian too.. I need your advice...
well.. the case is.. We just moved in... Like.. last May... I'm currently studying in the US as a 10th grader... I'm having problem making friends.. well.. I have some friends.. but you can count them.. Maybe because I'm shy... I dont speak unless spoken to.. But I can speak english very fluently... and they can understand me easily... (I came from an english speaking country)
1 of my problem is I get so shy during conversations... Or.. I'm not even that confident to say "hi"... I mean... back from my homeland... I'm super confident.. I have tons and tons of friends... I dont know what happened to me... or is it just natural in the first months?? and.. another thing, I'm super shy in our class participation... We already had like... 3 weeks of class and I have recited only 5 times.. I'm shy.. because I dont want to see people laughing at me specially when times like I make mistakes with my speech..
I would just like to know.. are asians viewed as... like...
"under" the whites or something...? well.. tnx for your advices!!! GODBLESS!!

In my class the teachers are always saying stuff like, oh I love catching kids with cell phones in class, I have a whole collection of phones at home, or if I see a cell I will take it an keep it. Most of the time there just kidding, but if they wanted could they actually take the phone or mp3, or whatever it is, off you and actually keep it, and take it to there house for there own use and not give it back?

Most of the time they give it back at end of class, but I 've always wondered if they would be allowed to have it?

do you think that children would get better educations if we had more 1 on 1 education - as much as possible like the old 1 room school house of years gone by?

My child is gifted and ADHD. He is one grade ahead in school and is enrolled in college prep school. Because of ADHD, he doesn't do all his work, which keeps his grades down. He takes ADHD medication, is involved in therapy for depression ( which he has always had in some form or other) and plays soccer. He could qualify for disability but i have resisted it because i don't want it to trip him up in the future. I have avoided IEP for same reason. Is there anything more i can do for this child? Wisdom appreciated!

Myself and my husband planned to send our son to private school. We found the perfect prep school that he is due to start next year. We have since split up and we cannot afford the fees. Is there any bursaries that could help? He is a very gifted boy who far exceeds his peers at nursery and we have been told he would benefit from a private education. I am also a working single parent and I can claim some working tax credits towards the cost but just need to know if there are any burseries for children as young as 3 or 4 ? Thanks x

I want him to know that his best is acceptable but that it is important to want to strech yourself-and your abilities. I don't want him to settle for mediocre, but I don't want to shame his attempts and abilities...
