What the best way to explain/demonstrate to a 5th grader (10-year-old) girl that getting bad grades will have negative affects in the future? Nothing has worked so far...

i think there is probably an underlying issue. Most children enjoy school at that age and compete with each other to do the best. There is probably something else going on that she is mad, angry, hurt, or disappointed about.
You will also have to look at her environment at home as well as school, who her friends are, etc.

Grades don't necessarily mean she's doing something wrong but if you truly believe that her grades are a result of her attitude and approach toward school, explain that more opportunities are available for people who complete high school and attend some form of post-high school education. Even community colleges require that you get good grades for admission.

My sister got poor grades. She did not qualify for admission to any college. She got a job in the food industry after high school and has the same exact job 20 years later. However, she is also still making nearly the same wage as she did back then. She's tired of her job but there are not many opportunities for her now.

Well she will not be able to get into a good collage so what I would do is to ground her /he for one week for every bag grade he or she has gotten.....I
asume that might get he or she back on task

well I have a son that is in second grade that is always getting in trouble and I take what he do and show him how we are living then I leave the choice up to him do you want to do better or worse he always say better
