so basically broward county florida the 5th largest school district is no longer making health and PE manatory and wants children in 8th grade to pick majors that they will study in highschool.... keep in mind thathealth class is the only place that most children will get real information on STD's and drug abuse and i dontknow about you but if i hadnt been requireed to take it then i would have never.... PE also isnt america getting fatter why make it so that you only take PE and health ifthats part of your major.... people in college dont even know what they want to do.... why make 8th graders choose that....

I remember my freshman year in public school. now this was in the late 80's. glad we moved to the suburbs(pshhhh). It wasn't nice. people would not listen to the teachers, would talk back to them, would not shut up when the teacher DEMANED they do so, there would be consent fights, etc.

Anyway, how do you public school teachers cope with that today?

I really feel for those teachers who have to deal with that kind of crap. And to top it off they are blamed for the students "poor" performance in class.

I have always taken my kids on vacations in the summer during school recess. My daughter is approaching 12 and the Son just turned 10. I live in the Northeast and want to take them to disneyworld next year in Florida. The only thing is that it is really hot in the summer down there. I think I would much rather go in the winter. Plus it seems to be alot cheaper then.

I am divorced so taking them down there between Christmas and New Years break is not a possibility.
