so basically broward county florida the 5th largest school district is no longer making health and PE manatory and wants children in 8th grade to pick majors that they will study in highschool.... keep in mind thathealth class is the only place that most children will get real information on STD's and drug abuse and i dontknow about you but if i hadnt been requireed to take it then i would have never.... PE also isnt america getting fatter why make it so that you only take PE and health ifthats part of your major.... people in college dont even know what they want to do.... why make 8th graders choose that....

i graudated fomr a broward school a few years ago... and basically they do not have time to cover any of the stuff they would have to cover in health in schince b/c they already have the blocks.... and basically you get half the year to cover what you would like to cover in an entire year...

We have the block scheduling here, and although I am in 11th grade, I dislike it very much. I still don't have any idea what I want do in my life, how is an 8th grader going to? I've changed my mind like, 20 times since last year. Clearly, this is ridiculous and I agree with you 100%.

The can cover that stuff in Science too. As for PE....everyone is having that problem......PE is so boring in the states.

they are doing the block schedule that alabama had. i dont know if they still have it. but i think this is whats its all about is the "block" schedule
