I was late to my chemistry class three times (and I mean only 5 minutes late at most each time during the whole quarter, and now, not only has she called my parents, she's also making me write an ESSAY, explaining why tardiness is bad. My dad tried to stand up for me, but she wouldn't let it go. The course starts at 7:45, and my dad won't let me take the subway in the morning or get any rides, so I rely on him to drop me off. Somehow, he's always running late when getting ready, so that just screws me over. Compared to kids who intentionally disrupt class, graffitti bathrooms, fight at school, etc. I'm a straight A student, and I have to write an essay for being LATE. I'll just suck it up and do it, but does the crime *really* justify the punishment? I go to the strictest school. =(

I am 15 years old...etc...Homeones raging...help me!!

I am confused now cos I have this crush on a teacher and he's so polite and thoughtful. He takes good care of me. But sometimes, I get confused cos I know we'll never go out in a life's time..ever! Cos he's my teacher, of course! But, I am trying to keep it down and be more friendlier with him in a sister-like way..

but we will be going on a geography trip tomorrow and I am not sure what to do...I am not going to be in his group this time and I am worried that I'll get a little bit jealous and worried that he'll lose the liking of me...I know it's stupid...but I'm 15! Help!

Our principal would like to reward our students when they meet their schoolwide reading goal, by doing something cool, crazy, or that requires bravery- nothing embarssing though. I need lots of ideas to choose from. Elementary school appropriate.

This year, the mornings before school have been really difficult! My daughter used to be happy to go to school but now she is really having a tough time in the mornings. She's been very weepy & slow moving....
I have stayed in touch with the school, she likes the teacher & no one is bullying her (according to her & the teacher)...she is getting plenty of sleep (from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.) & eating well so I just can not figure out what is going on.
Today I played some upbeat music & that helped some. If any of you have any other suggestions I would really appreciate it!
Oh, she is 7 (maybe knowing the age will help)...she is also an "only" child...
Thanks in advance!

I have spoken with several people whose children have been held back. 1st grade is challenging, but what can I do to help my son. Is it too early to tell if being held back is the worst thing that could happen? How do I accept that he may need to be held back, before he is, for his own good so that he does struggle in later grades?
