It depends on their age, as to the best method. Preeteens learn mostly by pure absorbtion and require little or no understanding, you just need to make it fun and possibly involve an incentive if you must (your love and praise should be sufficient with a well adjusted child). An abbacus is an excellent way start because the child can actually see the accumulation of beads, which is not present when you use abstract numbers on paper. The more patterns and relationships you can demonstrate, the better.
A children love being good at things because it attracts positive attention. If you can give them an advantage over other children then they will excel with it.

i'm no professional in coaching, yet I extremely have stumbled on that the actual breakthroughs come while toddlers benefit an understand-how of 'type', that's, volume. The old procedures of making use of apples, marbles, lego bricks or in spite of extremely artwork. for occasion to tutor three times tables, start up off with one lot of three (one million x 3) and ask your newborn to count type how many there are. Then 2 various 3 (2 x 3) and count type back. keep going, having somewhat exciting as you go, (e.g. call them spaceships, or dinosaurs, or dollies, or domestic canines) and once you get to around seven various threes (7 x 3) your newborn is possibly to get switched in to what's happening. greater substantial than gaining knowledge of the tables with the aid of rote, they are going to understand the belief of volume and how that arithmetic may well be utilized to artwork out how many stuff we are able to have if we've say seven various 9, or six various twelve. They wil additionally understand that that's much less complicated to study the tables than to count type out seven various 9 lego blocks! while they have an appreciation of parts and the fee of tables, then they are going to understand what they are gaining knowledge of while they recite tables. next time you go procuring, ask your newborn that can assist you artwork out the fee of issues. for occasion, "Honey i want to purchase 3 kilograms of potatoes and the fee is $4 a kilogram. How lots will that fee?" wish that enables. that's in fact how I helped my youngsters while they have been youthful (one boy and one female). they are actually the two of their 20s and each has a technological awareness degree! ultimate desires to you and your newborn.

One of the best ways I found to teach my children numbers and tables is to make it fun as children learn a lot from play.
I found a template of a dice and got them to colour it in,number it, cut it out, stick it together and waited for it to dry.
Rolled the dice and then another gave them an add, subtract or times and it worked as they had made the dice and wanted to join in and play. Not really playing but working on their number skills and it sunk in fast.
There are many educational games out there for number skills and honest it worked for my children and their friends.Even one of their teachers pinched the idea as it involved not just numbers but a whole many other skills and it was fun.
Hope that helped in a small way.

I would say the most effective & efficient way of teaching multiplication tables (or math) is by using the old traditional method, is to memorize the whole thing 1s multiplication then 2s multiplication and so on... and by practicing daily. Children tend to remember for their whole life by doing this, and the use of calculators should not be encouraged!

I learned mine through repetition just starting with the 1's (1x1 through 1x12) then after I mastered that level I was allowed to go onto my 2's. But I grew up in a time when Schoolhouse Rock was on tv during the commercial breaks and I credit those short animations with teaching me more than my teachers could. They were entertaining and to this day I remember the cartoon to remember my 9's.

Once started it helps by filling out grids i.e the answer in the box was the number at the top multiplied by the number at the side.
1...2...3...4...5
2...4...6...8..10
3...6...9..12.15
4...8..12.16..20
5..10.15..20.25
Whenever I got stuck it helped having other numbers around it.
As you get better the more numbers at the top and side.
Add to that a bit of bribery.....sorted.

Link it to actions such as brain gym. It uses both sides of the brain so should help to retain it. Also make sure you do regular tests out of sequence. Good thing to do when stuck in traffic.

the best to teach a kid multiples is to show them that they just keep adding the same number that they are multiplying to the answer
exp.
3x5=15
3x6=18
so 15+3=18.....and so on....
that's the way I learned and it still works.....

you can buy the tables in song format. Its more pleasant to learn this way. Personally, writting things over and over helped me learn best.
