This is a Theory of Knowledge question. I know it is hard. But any ideas will be useful, with a supporting argument (would be very good). Thank you for your help.

I'm a very frustrated 49-yr old graduate (loads of various post-school work experience/expertise) who's taught in a school for the last three years, but since recent redundancy can't find any form of teaching job because I'm not 'qualified'. To get qualified you need to be in a school who will train you - I got a GTP then got made redundant before I started the training - now I'm in a catch-22 because the rules say qualified teachers must be employed first - since I'm competing against experienced teachers and NQT's for all the jobs I apply for - - I basically don't seem to have a hope in hell. Can't continue the GTP - because I'm not teaching in a school!!

Teachers what do you do when kids start misbeahving and preventing others to learn?
I suggest 1 and 2 time warning, and then send outside besides the door for around 5 min(and take off points).
cause in math class,a few kids there is hyper, and hte teachers get mad at them alot.and yells at the class (when half of us arent doing anything) and now gives us double homework.
and we only had 5 minutes of learning time today.but u gotta admit its kinda enteraining...
so what do you guys do?

Parents, what do you expect when you attend a school's open house? What do you expect from the teacher? What would make your evening more special or worthwhile? I am a teacher getting ready for Open House and I want to make it the most beneficial to parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I teach 4th and 5th grade)

People say it isn't much, but I'm just wondering if it's true? Do they learn about Ancient civilisations like the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks? Do they learn much about Europe in the middle ages? What about modern history - do they learn much about the first and second world wars?

I'm not criticising or anything - I mean it's not like we learn much about American history where i'm from - but we do cover a bit, we learn the general basics of the pilgrim fathers and all that, and we do about the role slavery played in America's history. We also cover the depression in quite a lot of detail.

So, if you're American, what did you learn about in history class?

- a curious foreigner.
