I've heard that it's easier for international students to get into american universities, because they pay more (if it's public) and they usually don't need/get any financial help from the school. Is that true?

I recently received an email from NYU stating that any NYC who applies has their fee waivered. Is this really true. Personally I'd rather not have $65 on the line.

Actual email:
Dear <>:
It is impossible to envision New York University without New York City.
Probably no college or university is more closely identified with its
home town than is NYU.
But, we have a problem. Over the past two decades or so, we have
experienced a small, but steady, decrease in the portion of our freshman
class from New York City. We know that many of our students are drawn
from across the country and across the globe in large measure by the
chance to experience New York City as NYU students, and we believe that a
good part of that experience includes actually being around New Yorkers
not only on the sidewalks and public parks, but in classes, in residence
halls, and on athletic teams and student clubs. New Yorkers like you!

I would like to go back to school to study accounting to become a CPA. I have a BA in Studio Art and a MS in Library and Information Studies. Since I have no background in accounting I am thinking it may be better to go back to undergraduate school. Perhaps a graduate program will be too difficult and I assume I should already have a solid knowledge base of the subject before I start graduate work. (Although I went right into my Library Studies program with no prior academic experience in that subject). I am looking for advice and/or recommendations. Thanks.

I currently have a liberal arts degree that does not pay the bills. I want to get a degree in computers so I can make a lot of money and I am wondering what the best route would be. I heard computer engineering degrees are the best in terms of making good money and want to go that route. The problem is that the graduate school in computer engineering won't accept me with my current undergrad degree and said I would need to get a 2nd BS. However, there is a masters degree in computer science I would be eligible for if I take 3 prereq classes. Which should I do, the masters in computer science or the 2nd bachelor's in computer engineering?

How much harder is it to get into pharmacy school if you didn't major in Pre-Pharm, like majoring in chem for example. A person who majored in chem and took all the prerequisite courses and PCAT, will be considered more or less than someone who took pre-pharm and PCAT?

I am 21 and I have been working with some lawyers in my city for over a year. I am currently finishing up school and about to give my LSAT in Feb to get in for Fall 2008. I want to continue my education from the same school and get a law degree here. However, with my undergraduate degree and minors, I can get a $100K off college and have stable life. However, I think my life needs more challenges and hence I want to go to law school. Do you think I should take the step and really do it? My family has strong support for me but if I am very sure that I am going to law school, should I take a break and go to law school? I wanted to defer my admission and work for a year and then get back to law school. Any input from real law students or lawyers would be very much appreciated. I am very ambitious and I think I can dedicate myself for law school.

I can't really think of any. I think I offended a high school principal in Alabama. I can name plenty of west coast colleges and east coast colleges, but no southern colleges. Isn't that sad that all the educational schools are far from the south?

I'm interested in becoming a pharmacy tech to work in a hospital setting. Gatlin Education Services www.gatlineducation.com is offering an online pharmacy for almost $2k with an externship at Walgreen's pharmacy.

Should I go for it? Or is there another way to study and become nationally certified pharmacy tech to work at hospital?

Wasn't the traditional method to graduate with a 4 year degree, land a job and live on your own? Possibly marrying and having kids right away?

Now it seems as though a small minority of graduates follow this model.

Four year degrees are today's high school diplomas.

Most people end up moving back with their parents, including myself. I find it hard to believe that it's an individual problem and not a societal problem. There are many well qualfied people but only so few jobs open.

Should something be done by government officials, or do we let the market run its course?

I am in seventh grade and planning ahead for a career. I want to start an animal shelter. I know already that I should go to a buisness college. But what buisness would this be? And if I you could give me a list of colleges and their websites if they have any, that would help. I would also like to go to college for other things. Better yet can you tell me about colleges and if you are a teacher could I get an email adress from you? Still young and do not know anything about colleges. Please tell me everything you know. Thankyou very much!!
