I am in seventh grade and planning ahead for a career. I want to start an animal shelter. I know already that I should go to a buisness college. But what buisness would this be? And if I you could give me a list of colleges and their websites if they have any, that would help. I would also like to go to college for other things. Better yet can you tell me about colleges and if you are a teacher could I get an email adress from you? Still young and do not know anything about colleges. Please tell me everything you know. Thankyou very much!!

Just because you are home schooled doesn't mean you shouldn't have access to a professional educational counselor. Talk to the parents and suggest that your home schooling experience should include an appointment or two with an academic counselor.

There are people who do this work outside of the school setting and you can likely find one in your local phone book. You'll want to find one that supports home-schooling and specializes in academic and career development (not mental health). They have all sorts of tools and information that can help you out.

As for your question "what business would this be"; it depends on whether you want to operate this is a profit business or a non-profit charity. As a profit business, the are of business school you'd want to study is called 'entrepreneurship' which is "how to start and run a business". If you're thinking non-profit then the area of business is called 'public administration' which is all about running a business that isn't all about the money.

I'm thinking that to run a private animal shelter that you're going to either need to become a veterinarian or hire one.

You can also major in Animal Science if you have a strong interest in the sciences. I go to Rutgers University and one of the first classes you take is called "Careers In Animal Science", where people come in from different career backgrounds. Many of them had no previous business experience but turned their love of animals into businesses anyway. One woman opened up a llama farm and bred, housed, and sold llama hair for garments.
I'd say look into this if you like the sciences. It'd be much more impressive for you to have a real specific background in the business that you want to go into.

Other than that, go to your school counselor and talk to them. It's their job to specialize in helping you with this, and I'm sure they'd be able to give you a lot of good advice.
