Higher Education (University +) - November 2007

my friend went home with my roomate this past week and i was sick thursday so both of us didn't go to biology..the teacher gave a test back and told everyone to make corrections and they can get half the points back. Well we found this out and she sent and email saying she has a death in the family and she DIDNT...shes letting her do corrections under those circumstances bc its understandable..i said i was sick and she said sorry you cant make them up..what should I do?

I really want to go toher and be like nobody died!
but thats wrong?

i was wondering if i finished high school with a 3.1 and i went to community college for a year in PENNSYLVANNIA (where i live) if i could raise my gpa and get accepted into University of California of Santa Cruz..my dream has always been to go to college there..would i have to go to a community college in California and get a higher GPA or in Pennsylvannia which would save money???????

I know you have to go to law school, but what happens before that? I don't even know if its what I want to do, the criminal aspect seems boring, but the business and tax aspect seems pretty cool...

I went to college before and failed out, but I'm a lot different than I was back then. Can I just start from scratch again at a new school if I don't want any credits to transfer, or do I have to let them know anyway?

Lastly, what does someone major in. I was thinking Political Science... Or would I need to go with criminal justice?

I have asked this question before but many people got me wrong, so please read carefully and tell me what to do:

I like this guy very much, he was once a guest professor in one of my classes and was so sweet.
But he is NOT my professor, so this has nothing to do with grades.
He's under 30, doing his PhD and I'm 24 and a serious graduate student, so there's really no age difference. He's younger than many of my classmates!
He's not married and he has said that to me himself in a departmental gathering.

This is not a schoolgirl crush, we're both adults and Im looking for a serious relationship, because he's smart and sweet and our major is the same.
Just want some advice on how it might look since we're in the same department and tips on approaching him in a way that doesn't make him uncomfortable.

I have a crush on this professor in the department, he is NOT my professor, he teaches undergraduate. Is it okay to date a professor if they're not "your" professor? How do I know if it's against the university guidelines, or it's the same in all universities?

I am going to be taking a math course in college, and it's been 15 years since I've taken mathematics. Actually, more like 18 because my parents put me in Vo-Tech in my last 2 years of high school, so my last math class, Honors Geometry, was in 10th grade.

I am, obviously going to be taking a remedial math course to help me "re-learn" the basics, because when I was taking college courses 4 years ago, I chose College Algebra, I was getting the correct answers, but could NOT explain how I was, so I knew I needed to drop the course and "go back" to a lesser course so I could re-learn what the processes are and how I was getting the answers (and no, I didn't have a cheat guide).

So, my choices are "Mathematics: Basic Math" or "Beginning Algebra"

I know my fractions and decimals and basic math...so should I go ahead and enter Basic Algebra and work my way back up that way? Or would it be wise to go with basic math, THEN beginning algebra and so forth?

Is that horrible? I was almost in the top 25% but at the last minute I slipped and was pissed. I was literally a few people away. Do colleges look badly on that that I am almost in the 1st quartile but still graduate in 2nd quartile? My GPA is an A, and my ACT is a 24.

I have a horrible GPA, 2.3, after goofing off at the beginning of my undergrad. I have the rest of the fall semester and spring semester to finish 3 classes, then graduate. If I get As in all 3 classes, how much can my GPA raise? Should I take more classes before I graduate even though they aren't needed for my major?

I am a freshmen (Canadian citizen.) I study at a rather prestigious high school in Canada. I have a GPA of 4.0 (95.1%) on a 4.0 scale. Since im new in high school, I can't attain any high positions in my co curriculars, but here is a list of my clubs:

-Multicultural society

- Model UN (leads up to New York UN conference)

- Community Service Council (Mexico trip this summer to a mexico city daycare geared to single moms.

-President and founder of the Interfaith society( a club in which members learn about the different faiths and religions that surround us). Useful considering our school is an international uni. prep school.

- I am also an editor for the school newspaper and literary magazine.

- Peer tutor

- Sr. Cross country team

- student ambassador (tour guider)

- 1st of 100 students (gr. 9)

Chances at Stanford/Yale University?

Can I get a List of possible colleges that I could get into with these stats:

ACT: 25
SAT: 1600
GPA:3.4

Btw I live in Ohio. I have not finished my high school career yet but I want to see what my options might be, this will give something to aim for also.
