Does Syracuse University or Rutgers University have a better business program? Which school is more well-known

Both are excellent schools. US News ranks Syracuse at #50 and Rutgers at #59. The biggest difference is that Rutgers is a public university and Syracuse is private.

Neither is really known for its business school. I would not recommend getting an MBA at either school. However, both would be great places to get an undergraduate degree in business.

It all depends on whose rankings you read, I guess. I don't get US News, I get Business Week and RU is ranked #23 and Syracuse was NR (did not make the top 100).

But if you are going to be a business student, here's your first business lesson: Rutgers costs $8084. Syracuse costs $28,820. Rutgers median salary at graduation is $55,500. Syracuse's median salary at graduation is $49,500. (Though that probably is geographically related as well.) Actually, I'll let you figure out the lesson there.

In all seriousness though, choosing a college is about fit. If you can't stand the college once you're there, then the rest of the numbers don't matter (or at least don't matter as much).

To the answerers above me,
College ranks are meaningless, they hold no water.

It really depends on the career or program that you wish to pursue.
Syracuse is 'known' for entrepreneurial studies, while at rutgers, accounting and finance ares the most popular majors. The down side to rutgers is that you wont enter the business school untill your Junior year (unless you apply to newark or camden); Syracuse starts their business program from day 1 of frosh year.
