I'm a 19-year-old high-school dropout, who dreams of attending Harvard. I'm attending a local community college and maintain a 4.0 GPA. I know I need extracurricular activities, which as yet I don't have (too m)any. Now, I have a few questions: Do I still need to take the SAT and ACT? Can a 19 or 20 year old even take these tests or are they for high schoolers? Am I, because I'm transferring, less likely to be accepted than a high-school senior? Do I apply any differently than a high-school senior?

I'm not too bad at writing, so I'm not worried about the essay.

-My GPA stands as a Strong B+ (B+/A-)... My school has a diffrent scale then the 4.0 so it is difficult to convert exactly. But that's where it is on our scale. But I f Id had to guess it on the 4.0 scale then Id say it around 3.3-3.5
-My ACT composite score is 27 in one try
-I do a couple sports and a few clubs but im nothing spectacular in that regard.
-I have a very good personal essay because of my life story where I moved all around the world, lived through a war and got to where I am today. So hopefully colleges will apprecaite that.

I am applying to a lot of colleges because I need options. So which of the following do you think Ill get into?
- University of Wisconsin- Madison
- Ohio State University
- Purdue University
- Butler University
- University of Minnesota - twin cities
- University of Connecticut
- University of Rutgers - New Brunswick/Piscataway
- University of Rhode Island
- St. John's University (Queens, NY)
- SUNY- Binghamton
- SUNY- Stony Brook
- SUNY- Albany

I will probably be working in Menlo Park or Berkeley...I would of course LOVE to go to UCBerkeley but I doubt they'll accept me...will finish w/an overall GPA of 3.0. If I am working for an amazing company for 3 years however, and prove my true potential (I was immature and went thru depression in college) is there any chance to still get into a top program? I prefer to stay in town.
Anyway, if you know the top say 5-10, plz let me know so I can call them individually and ask about their admissions process.
Thanks a bunch!

I have visited Berkeley with high hopes. I love the liberal history and the history music scene. The campus was very pretty but I felt that I would be afriad to walk alone less than 1 block from the campus. The streets seemed questionable and I just didn't feel safe. I was thinking about NYU as well. I have never been and it does seem that the streets as well are going to have some shady characters. But does the amount of people make up for feeling like someone could take advantage of you???? Where do you feel most safe? And if you have attended either university what did you life/not like about it??? PLEASE ANYTHING HELPS!! COLLEGE DECISIONS AS YOU KNOW ARE SO TOUGH AS IT IS.

Ok I am at a community college and I am doing Liberal Arts so I need 2 science classes (8 credits) to transfer after 2 years (AA degree) so on my sheet it says:

Science
Biology I and II (or higher) BIOL 161-162
Chemistry I and II (or higher) CHEM 181-182
Physics I and II (or higher) PHYS 171-172

I already took Chem I last year but dropped Chem 2 with a W because I was failing... I really don't wanna have to do Chem 2 over again just to graduate I'd rather just do Bio 1. My question is, would that be acceptable to graduate? Or, do I have to do 2 of the same class? (Chem 1 and 2) ?

Please help, I emailed my advisor but she never got back to me and it isn't clear on the sheet... I don't wanna be held back from graduating in exactly 2 years (its my goal) just because of this.

Thank you!

My friends tell me this all the time, but I am the one that would fall for it. Is it true?

They are not saying I should get waisted or tipsy but just a few drinks. How true is this?

Hi, i am in the 3rd year of arch school in the Univ. of New Mexico. I am getting my 4 year Bachelor in arch. I have pretty good grades I guess i can graduate with a 3.8 gpa / 4.0... I do pretty good in my classes, specially in the arch studio where my projects have recieved pretty good grades and critiques. I am an international student, from South America. My portfolio ooks pretty good too and people like it. It was also kept last year so they can show it as an example for new incoming students. And I could probably get a job in an architecture firm here. APA... Antoine Predocks firm, which I consider one of the ebst architects in the world. I have worked my past two summers as and apprentice in 2 firms in My country. So... What kind of schools do you think I should apply for grad school, I was thinking about top schools, such as princeton, UCLA, Pratt, Columbia, U penn, UT, etc. what do u think?

Well, I'm a high school senior and I'm having a hard time determining which university I should attend. I'm really considering University of Toledo (OH), which is only a few hours from where I live. However, it is primarily a commuter campus, and I'm not sure if future employers would consider it prestigious enough. The other university is SIUe (IL) which is about 9 hours away (out of state). So, my question is which of these two colleges do you think is more recognized? Also, do you recommend that I go in-state (Toledo) and graduate probably debt-free with an "okay" degree; or out-of-state (SIUe), graduating with student loans, but having experienced a different place?

I am a sophomore in high school currently. I was wonder what I need to do to get into a good college when I graduate. Scholarships would be nice as well. I'm curious if honors and AP classes look good on a resumé or if they're looked upon no different than regular classes. I'm interested in taking some course at the local community college and I'm not too sure if it is normal for them to accept current high school sophomores or if they wait until their junior year to admit you into the community college part time and full time over the summer.
Also, I'm not too sure what extracurricular activities look good on a college resumé or not.

I am an A B honors student with a GPA of 3.5, no PSAT scores as of yet.

Most colleges only allow 18 hrs per semester. I feel like I can do more than that and want to graduate ASAP. Would it be legal/accepted if I took a full semester at the college in my city and half of a semester at the University?
Or... does this somehow go against regulations...
(I'm in the state of Texas) - Thanks to all answers in advance.

when i was in 9th grade i got suspended for screaming to the teacher, and in 11th grade i got suspended because i tried to make the students go on a strike. but that was in the old school, i changed from school in 12th grade because i wanted to, does the new school know that i got suspended twice? and if i tell the college that i didnt, do they have knowledge of that? does that appear on the credit transcriptions or something? because i dont think that goes in the category as extra credit.
