Maybe.

If your unweighted GPA is in that range -- then that is a good start. To be qualified, you would also need lots of AP and Honors classes, a very high SAT score, good extracurricular activities, a good interview and a killer admissions essay.

Being qualified doesn't mean you will get in. Schools like Yale only accept about 10% of those who apply. If half the applicants are qualified (and I suspect it is more) then more than 80% of qualified applicants are rejected.

The good news is that if you ar equalified to get into Yale, you will certainly get into some good college.

Probably not. It is really hard to get into Yale. Even if you have really good SAT and ACT scores and a 4.0. There are many Valedictorians who don't get into Yale with 36's. Unless you know someone at Yale or have some special ability like you are a star athlete or play an instrument really well you probably won't get in. There are alot of other good schools you can go to that will be cheaper anyway.

..That's a little tough to answer. Sure, a high GPA average will help, but there are other things that Yale and other universities take into mind. Extra curriculars are important, and how much work you put into your college application will also influence whether you get in or not. It's a tough place to get into, so you'll need more than just an excellent GPA. ;D

Is it a weighted GPA or unweighted? If it's weighted, then Yale would be a huge reach. If it's unweighted however, then it's certainly a possibility. It really depends on the rest of your transcript. Are you involved with your community? Do you play any sports? Are your SAT scores good?

Any Ivy is hard to get into. You can be completely perfect and still not get in. It depends on what makes you unique.

Your GPA by itself is meaningless. There is so much variation among schools that the actual grades don't provide a valid comparison.
That's one of the reasons for SAT's and ACT's. I've experienced this personally, I took Chemistry at a school with very high academic standards and worked my butt off to get a C. I transferred and did the second half of the course at a school where half as much work got me an A.
All colleges know this, the problem is that students in schools with low standards often don't realize it. They can look at their string of A's and believe they're doing great, while in reality the teachers are inflating the grades to keep parents and students happy.
If you know your school's good, then the GPA may accurately reflect your performance, if you aren't sure check how your fellow students rank on standardized tests. If people who are honor students are coming in at the 70th or 80th percentile, your GPA is probably worthless.

Getting into college doesn't neccessarily rest on JUST GPA, yeah Yale will take it into great consideration, but also your involvement in your school and community will play a large role in your acceptance. Make sure you demonstrate leadership, and make yourself stand out from your peers. What's the average GPA at Yale?
