Do you think it's better to go to college knowing someone or to go all by yourself?

I really want to go to University of Maryland (which is 3000 miles away) because it's everything I want. But if I did go, I would be all by myself. I would leave my four best friends and I'm afraid I would lose them for good. Part of me is saying I should go for it because I may not get another opportunity, but part of me also can't leave them.

Things are also complicated by the fact that an ROTC scholarship makes you pick your top three schools way far in advance. So even if I wanted to I couldn't wait until we were all accepted into our universities to see where I wanted to go.

I have to decide soon.

For in-state tuition purposes. Do you have to prove your residency at the start of each school or year or at the start of each semester. Or just at the start of your enrollment at the school? Your schools policy is probably the same as most others.

I'm fluent in several European languages and I attend college in the states. Am I allowed to use, e.g. a Swedish source for a paper that I'm writing? Or do they all have to be in English?

To my parents, they're really excited for me to start college. But for real, I really don't want to go anymore. Because I already have a roomate, already have been regestered, and I don't know my classes yet, how do I tell them. I really really don't want to go. Oh, and my mother has friends near there, she expects me to stay with them on breaks and sometimes weekends, but I don't want to stay with them. They are overenthusiastic. It's too much. I am really confused.

I just need some good suggestions about getting into a fairly nice school AWAY from home. I live in Chicago so a good school out of IL that offers computer programs. My H.S. gpa is really low like 2.1 ACT 24. I'm tying not to stay at home for school so any help on where to go would be quite a bit of stress off me!

Also, I don't know if it helps but I was in Prep, Performance, Marching, Concert, and Jazz Band for a couple yrs.

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys I need your help. My life is heading in the wrong direction. One year back everything was cool, but now it's all rotten. Ok last year I finished high school with good marks. I made the A/b honor roll. Anyways Everything was cool I got into a university..... I didn't really know what I wanted to be so my brother and I decided that I would do ITM(information technology management ). Ok I got into the program. I was doing fine but after the mind term I was close to failing my accounting class. As the end of the term approached I almost failed my accounting class and forgot to "drop it". So by not dropping my accounting class my GPA dropped and I was suspended. Now the only choice I have is either to get back into the program or pick an other program. Now the problem is I don't know which program to pick.. I don't want to jump into a program which is to hard or I have no interest in. I really want to get back into school and earn a degree.

I've got a degree in psychology, bachelor of science. I do have fundraising experience but I would really like if there was a school or something to teach you the ropes of planning a fundraiser.

I wanted to know what my chances were for schools like Notre Dame, Northwestern and even some of the ivy leagues. I am a minority (immigrant parents) and a 1320 SAT (hoping to raise it up). My gpa is about the same but of course each school looks at it differently. I have done a lot of community service and two different sports for two years with other clubs and a few other extracurriculars. Also I believe I will write a good essay.
