My essay question is this- Elizabeth Bennet, though witty and intelligent, would have probably been viewed as an exceptional woman in her time, yet she still conformed to society's expectations of women.
How is Elizabeth diffferent from her sister, Lydia, and her mother? Explain.

I am having a hard time getting my ideas together for this. Any of your opinions are greatly appreciated!

I am currently a junior in high school and am seriously considering Brown University as a potential college choice. However, I would like to become a math major, a major for which Brown is not well known. I am hoping that current students at the university or alumni will answer this question. Basically, how's the math program at Brown?

I am a high-school student in Bangladesh but my family is immigrating to the USA soon. I look forward to enrolling in college in the US in 2008. I have already been searching for suitable colleges. One that caught my eye is Marlboro College in Vermont. PrincetonReview gives Marlboro the highest possible academic rating of 99, putting it in the same league as Harvard, MIT, Amherst College etc. On the other hand, Marlboro seems to be an unknown college elsewhere, and does not even make the list of US News & World Report Top Liberal Arts colleges. I cannot make up my mind about the quality of education there. Can anyone, preferably a Marlboro graduate, give me an accurate assessment and make my decision of choosing a suitable college easier?

which is the better school? Both schools are ranked equally in the field I want to study so its basically going to boil down to recognition and academic prestige I guess. Which one is better in that regard? I want to take the degree far and wide and have it open doors. Which one will work out better for me in the end?

The only schools I applied to were UC Davis, UCLA, CSU Chico, and SDSU. I didn't get into UCD, UCLA, and SDSU, although I sent in a appeal to SDSU because I do not have a clear reason why I wasn't excepted. But I know getting into UCD and UCLA is very competitive. I got into CSU Chico and I heard it's great there. Afterwards, I got into UC Merced and UC Riverside because I guess all eligibile California residents are guranteed a UC spot. So if anyone from both of these campuses can help about the environment and curriculum, it would be great. Thanks

I am attending either University's of Chicago's College or Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences next year, and I don't know which one to attend.

I want to double major in art history and economics, and although, at the undergrad level programs aren't ranked, the undergraduate econ program at U Chicago is renowned because of the prestige of it's graduate and doctoral programs. However, I'm scared of the competitiveness of Chicago's econ program; 10% of undergrads major in econ, and as a result the university tries to weed out students. Chicago's program is also more quantitative than Cornell's.

Cornell, however, has the ivy name and the economics major requirement is easier to meet there, making it easier to double major.

I like that U Chicago is in the city, but I've consulted teachers in my school familiar with the UofC and they have emphasized the fact that it is HIGHLY academic; there isn't much of a social aspect to Chicago. I am also wary of the workload.

Any suggestions?

I entered college as an english major. Ive knocked out the first 2 years. Im done with all my GE expect bio and I have no clue what I want to major in! PLEASE HELP!

I originally wanted to be a teacher but I seriously doubt I have the personality for it. I am social but most of the time pretty quiet. I am not out going or engaging.

Ive thought about:
Accounting
Art (glazier; glass art)
Bio (if I like it) (Entomology seems cool)
English (I love writing on my onw but I hate taking enlish classes)
Environmental Science
History (Egyptology sounds cool)

I am not trying to be rich. I just want to find a job that I wont hate going to. I dont want to get up dreading work. I hope to find something I will enjoy but that may be a stretch. I want to make atleast $40k/yr.

Thanks.

Like, say you could take a pill to learn a language.

I'd take the Spanish Pill, Hebrew Pill, Sanskrit Pill, and several other language pills.

I'd also take the sign language pill.
The world history pill

I'm getting ready to start going to a 2-year community college. I'm going to major in Criminal Justice (Police Science), but I am planning on possibly transferring to a 4-year college after I receive my associates, and would like to have a minor. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS! How do you go about establishing a minor and getting one? How does it work? Please provide as much information possible about the subject. It will greatly be appreciated.

I've attended classes as a full time student this past fall and spring semesters. i am planning on taking summer classes but am not sure if these are harder or not?

i would assume harder because classes meet daily from mon-thurs, for 3 hours. but i would say they're easier since they only last one month instead of 4 months.

It seems like hardly anyone is getting out in four years these days... I've heard the average is five years, but lately people have been saying six. Is it bad to take 5 or 6 years to graduate with a BA or BS? Does it look bad?
