Duke is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Yes, accreditation matters. Many employers won't hire graduates of unaccredited colleges, and getting financial aid through FAFSA is usually impossible at unaccredited schools. Many graduate or professional schools don't recognize undergraduate degrees from unaccredited colleges. Take Pensacola as an example: http://chronicle.com/free/v52/i29/29a04001.htm

Duke University is one of the most famous and highly respected schools in the world. They are accredited in every way that it is possible for a school to be accredited, and especially in the way that really matters - they are respected by employers and graduate schools who eagerly recruit Duke students to be their employees and graduate students.
You could not ask a question like that if you had any knowledge at all about colleges. I suggest strongly that you go to the library and ask the librarian to help you find a book about applying to colleges and choosing a college. You need to learn a lot more about this whole process or you will wind up in a bad place paying a lot of money for a bad educational deal.

Duke most likely is. And it does matter in some cases. I would rather have it than not.
There are several reasons accreditation is important besides ensurance of quality and adherence to academic standards. Accreditation determines a school's eligibility for participation in federal (Title IV) and state financial aid programs. Proper accreditation is also important for the acceptance and transfer of college credit, and is a prerequisite for many graduate programs.

Accreditation is not some difficult process with ridiculously high standards. I would be very much surprised if a school as prestigious as Duke were not accredited.
