The only schools I applied to were UC Davis, UCLA, CSU Chico, and SDSU. I didn't get into UCD, UCLA, and SDSU, although I sent in a appeal to SDSU because I do not have a clear reason why I wasn't excepted. But I know getting into UCD and UCLA is very competitive. I got into CSU Chico and I heard it's great there. Afterwards, I got into UC Merced and UC Riverside because I guess all eligibile California residents are guranteed a UC spot. So if anyone from both of these campuses can help about the environment and curriculum, it would be great. Thanks

I graduated from UCR. It's a terrific campus. They had a recent burst of expansion and most of the facilities are new. The area is growing very fast. They opened up a law school and they have a very aggressive biomedical program. The area of RIverside and Moreno Valley is growing as fast too.

But when you pick a campus...you should pick it based on where you eventually want to live. You might fall in love and find a future spouse. Your classmates might start a business with you while you are in college. Your contacts and internships will greatly depend on the opportunities in your area.

Chico is fairly remote in terms of being close to great job opportunities. At UCR, you can easily get a job in Orange or Riverside County. Or even commute via train to LA.

I'd consider UCR over chico. The UC diploma carries a better brand value over most CSU campuses. Plus you will have better access to companies, capital, resources, and opportunities available in Southern California.

University of California. UC and CSU are two public systems. The more elite of the two is the University of California. It's far more selective than the CSU system. Doctorates are granted within both systems. The University of California has several famous campuses. UCLA and UC Berkeley are the two most well known, and the most elite of all the UC campuses. All UC campuses are very distinct culturally and academically. CSU is a good system. No one should be ashamed of attending a CSU campus. Like the University of California, there are better campuses than others. CSU San Jose is considered one of the strongest, especially for journalism. Some CSU campuses are considered better than some of the lesser UC campuses. Hope that helps.

UCR is a great school with a wonderful campus. Chico is also a great school and has the added benefit of being a great party school. I know a guy who recently graduated and he loved it. So much so that he didn't want to graduate and when he did he didn't want to leave the area. It really depends on what you want to study when you go to college....

Congrats! I heard Riverside's weather is fairly decent (being close to L.A) and it's people are great. It's in between San Diego, LA and more inland than UC Irvine so it has great places to visit. I know Chico is pretty desolate but has fairly good weather. Good luck.

Chico is a better party school, and you don't have the forest fires in the summer.
