Some time ago, if you were an engineer, you were ok in the market. You knew what was neccesary for the time, and comparatively, you were well trained in a field.
Then, MBA and other Masters began to appear (in the sense that common engineers, not linked to academic research, got it), and today, in large business/enterprises, you have to got one in order aspire to be in a good level of competences and knowledge. But still that began some time ago.
What`s today`s tendency in large companies? (what do you see today for example in those companies in Europe, or USA) Is it going to be necessary to have a Ph. D? Or is it a degree of knowledge only useful when you do activities heavy linked with research?

I am to graduate in a few months with a 2:2 and might be looking to study for a masters at my university. But I am not too sure.

There are many firms who have minimum graduate entry requirements of 2:1, do they consider an applicant who has a 2:2 degree and a masters?

Has anyone experienced this? Thanks

Last year I took this night class. I did an extra credit assignment. Instructor was so impressed that he voluntarily sent me another to do. He's like, "do this if you have time and I'll get edits to you. Keep up the good work!" Well, I didn't have time to turn it in before the last class meeting and told him via email that I only had a draft. He's like, "get it in when you can...you know you'll get an A!" I turned it in maybe a week or so later. All he had to do was read it and provide one sentence of feedback. But I heard nothing. To digress a moment, I met up with a friend and former classmate a few weeks ago for lunch. She turned in a final paper after the class ended and she never heard either. Basically, I'd like to know why instructors are so lazy (or maybe they don't care) that they can't lift a finger and provide student feedback! Any insights about this situation?

I can't decide between going to a good private school or a good public school. I mean how much do law schools factor in where you went to for undergrad?

Filed bankruptcy a year ago because of a bad business venture. I am currently in college with a major in accouting but I am getting worried that I won't be able to use my degree in accouting with a BK. I am only in my second year so I could easily change majors at this time. I do have an interest in Med-school, law-school and accounting PHD. My question is should I keep going with my accounting degree and get my PHD in accounting. I would like to teach I think but worry that it will be hard to find a job after getting that degree that took me 8 years to get?

after a long period of speculation, the time has now come for me to try to get into a good college. I am a junior. I have a GPA of 4.3 (Straight A's), am on the executive board of student government, have gotten into governor's school for international studies, have participated invarious other school activities, am in a locally very popular rock band and have completed over 50 hrs of community service. Most likely I will join 2 more clubs before I graduate from high school and will have have done a summer job. THe problem that I am facing is that ivy league schools require a MINIMUM critical reading and math score of 1300/1600 (or so I've heard), and all the practice SAT's i've taken so far, I miss 1300 by JUST A LITTLE. Like ill get a 1200 or 1250. I have been working really hard and hope to get through. But if I dont, does that mean I am not going to Ivy League? Despite that fact that I have certain other things under my belt?

OK, so i got into these 3 schools and I know that my ultimate goal is law school. I've visited all 3 campuses and I like all 3 about equally. Personally Vanderbilt is my favorite but only because of the sports teams (and i live in maryland so i liked the change of scenery over the terps).
The real problem is Vanderbilt, after all scholarships and stuff is gonna cost me about 28k a year and Maryland is gonna run about 10k. Also I got into the Honors Humanities Program at UMD which only admits 50 a year (notice I'm really between Vandy and UMD, but I did sort of like Emory). What is the best decision here to put me in the best place for law school, Vanderbilt for the prestige and the experience or Maryland for the price? I have to admit, the ability to to pay 1/3 of the price and save that money for grad school is tempting but I also love the idea of Nashville. Any comments would be MUCH appreciated.

I got accepted to these two great schools, both of which offered generous financial aid packages. However, I'm still uncertain as to which school I should attend- even after doing tons of research!
I see myself as a caring, humble, determined and a very mature youngman that would like to delve beyond the 'ordinary' liberal arts education and experience the extraordinary!
I love both schools very much and would greatly appreciate any comments that would help me in making the right decision.

Thank you!
