My professor gave us an assignment to do a paper that is 4 pages long. I picked a topic already on Philosophy and religion intersect. I don't get what he means be explaining how my topic is delt with in the book? Does that mean how it is being described in the book? Or give a brief description? What does it mean " How is it delt with in the book?Help me please.

It means how it is being described in the book. What the author believes, the position taken, etc.

It sounds like he means: what does the book say about your topic? Does the author have an opinion or particular point of view about your topic. Does the author's approach to your topic reflect a particlar type of philosophy (e.g. Thomist or Marxist or postmodernist)?
