I think College can open alot of doors for a person's future career, finances, and living conditions. Furthuring your education is essential... but I think I definetly have to go to college! Its one of those situations where its a top priority for me. If you wanna go to college, then YOU have to take on the responsibilities! I think U of A is a good school, but I can't determine how well you will like it (cause I don't know you). Just follow your intuition...
Good Luck

The U of A is a huge state university. There are many good programs and teachers there, and also many good students, but there are THOUSANDS of students who are not very smart, and who crowd into giant classes. It is not at all unusual for a class there to be 500 students or more. You will definitely be just a number. A lot of your classes and labs will be taught by grad students who are Teaching Assistants.

If you are a reasonably good student and take a business like attitude toward your work, you will be able to graduate with a very good GPA and also have a great time partying and having fun. Lots of your dorm mates will be clueless and complain constantly about how much work they have and how hard the classes are.... don't worry about them... they barely graduated from high school and wouldnt have even gotten into college if the state law didnt require the college to admit them.

Tucson is not a terrific city, but it does have a great climate (except in the summer) and you can survive there pretty well.

You are going to college to get a degree in something that will allow you to have a career.

You have to answer these questions to determine if a college is right for you:

1. Does it offer a program in the field that I am interested in?
2. Is my chosen program at this university respected?
3. Am I able/willing to do the work to be successful?
4. Can I afford this college?

If you are just trying to find an easy program of study, I would recommend staying close to home (perhaps a community college) because more often than not.. students who go into a college or university without the drive to succeed (work hard), find themselve moving home at Christmas. Save your money if you aren't committed to the work.

Finally, the significance of a high GPA is directly related to the reputation of the University and the program of study. If neither are respected, then a high GPA isn't that impressive.

I suggest that you evaluate the school in regards to your area of study. Is the school known for its achievements in your subject of study? I assume that there are many large state universities that are comparable. I am not the smartest person. I made my grades using a lot of studying and dedication. It took my more work than some others, but my achievements are the result of my endeavors. You can do the same if you desire.

College is good for you because on the whole education is good for you, as are the social aspects that college can offer. I can't give an opinion about the University of Azizona... as I know nothing about it. I do want to mention that you might do well with a community college! My daughter plans to attend our local community college for two years and then transfer to a University out of state for the rest of her education.

Good luck with your decisions!

I don't know much about the University of Arizona, so I can't be very specific.

But if at all possible, VISIT the college. Or, TALK to someone who has been there, or better yet, more than one person.

May God bless you.
