Hello,
Don't even think to use the age of 24 as any kind of excuse not to goto college!!!!
I got my B.A. degree in english, Creative Writing last June, and suffice it to say, I am many years yoiur senior! In other words, I'm OLDER THAN YOU ARE AND I JUST GRADUATED!!
Now, I don't know anything about the record keeping you back, it might, it might not, I think that will be up to you if you let it or if you decide not to let it.
Math was my holdup. It held me up for several years because I was concerned about passing math in order to get a degree. I took classes off and on for many years always being afraid of math! I was never good at it in high school and I figured the standards were far too high for me concerning math, especially since I underwent 5 brain operations back in the early 1980's!
Well, guess what? After another break i checked my transcripts and realized how close I was to an AA degree. I knew math was still my obstacle but I figured "I want to goto a 4 year institute and get a BA or higher so lets just do the damn math." (I figured this was the only way to advance myself in any way so I went for it!)
To make a long story short, I was able to test out of math, (yes I am THAT BAD) and in spring 2005, I received my AA degree from a junior college and in june 2006, I received my BA in english from Cal State University, San Bernardino!!!

AGE IS NOT A FACTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Espically at this institute! I really enjoyed my years at the university, more so since I was a bit older, a bit wiser.

My regret is that I let math hold me back for so long! In terms of what I want to do, I still have math as an issue, but i think that I just might make it, even after all I've been through! I figure that if I don't get to where I really want to be, at least I'm halfway there, and I can still do a bit of good where I am. The degree even gives me an option I never had before, simply because I HAVE IT!!! SO GO FOR YOURS BEFORE ITS TOO LATE, AND REMEMBER, ITS NEVER TOO LATE, I'M LIVING PROOF!

I'm sorry to hear about your hard times, but college at any age is a great idea!! I'm an older student, but I don't feel too out of place at the university. I'm there to learn and become a better person, not to fit in with the "in" crowd! If you're worried about finding a good job, then you should definately go to college, because it will be pretty hard to find a good job w/ a felony on your record and no college degree. Alot of people do stupid stuff when they're young, but don't let it ruin your future. Good Luck!

If you have the opportunity to go to college, no matter what the age, do it as soon as you can. I went straight to work after high school and decided to return to college at 25. Strangely enough I'm also doing it in a foreign country in a foreign language, and all of my classmates and friends are 18-21. I have made very few good friends, but they are friends for life, the rest I can happily classify as too young in the head for me to even worry about. You have the benefit of some added life experience, it will help you more than you think. I'm now 30, and I graduate in December, and I feel that it has been the most valuable and important single thing I've done in my entire life other than marry my wife. Good luck, go for it.

Age is nothing. Graduated in my 40's. You need to get that degree just to prove to yourself that you can do it. After doing this, just wait and see what else good happens. Others have had felonies before you and gone on to have very successful lives. Just don't ever lie on an application. Much better to be honest overall. We all do things as teenagers that are regretted later in life. All of us. You can do this and must. I wish the very best and would even bet you graduate with honors too.

Go ahead and go to college. After all, where will you be in 4 or 5 years? You'll be 28 or 29 no matter what, so why not be 28 or 29 with a college degree?

Because of your rough background, you seem to feel much older than you actually are. 24 is nothing; there are people who go back to school in their 70's and 80's. Yes, it will probably be harder for you, with a felony record, to find a job, but you have that record whether or not you go to college. Right now, not only does your record hold you back, but so does your lack of education. Going to college would get rid of one of those factors.
