No one in my immediate family has been through college. I dropped out of highschool but got my GED at 18. I'm 19 and wanting to go to college soon but i'm worried that my ambitions might be too high. Let me start off by saying the reason i failed was a combination of family problems, stress, medical problems(depression caused by an undiagnosed thyroid problem then) anxiety and absoultely no motivation or drive in school. Now I want to change all that. I want to go to tech for 2 years for credits and GPA to get into a real college then hopefully get a bachelors degree and i really, really hope to do medicine and get into medschool. My question is are my hopes too high? would they not accept me for having a GED?

I am writting an essay about becoming a nurse and it mostly deals with going to school. My first topic I am talking about is the education and taking all of your classes/pre reqs to get into a nursing college, the second topic is dedication to me that is not loosing interest in becoming a nurse and how to stay focused while going to school but I don't have a third topic to tie with all of this. Please help me.

I was an intern at a museum that I now work at. I was an intern at an marine science institute and a chemistry tutor. I got an 1840 overall on my SAT's ( 680 CR , 630, Writing, 530 Math) I got an 640 on the Chem SATII and an 650 on the Literature SATII my school did not have AP's till my senior year. I fought for AP classes at my school and was the main reason as to why we not have them. I am now taking two AP's Gov and Literature. I have taken 4 transferable college classes at a community college and about 4 non transferable community college coureses. I have a 3.9 unweighted at my highschool 4.01 weighted and a 3.9 at the community college. I applied as a bio major and this is how I ranked the schools: 1. Revelle 2. Warren 3. Muir 4. Marshall 5. E Roosevelt 6. 6th college. I alos applied to UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara. If you could let me know what you think about my chances of getting into UCSD( and UCB + UCSB if you feel like it) and the 6 schools that would be great.

Specific things I want to know(just answer what you know please, I already looked at the website) are these things:

How many people attend there?
What is the teacher to student ratio?
What's the average age of the student there?
Is there an oncampus housing? Is it required?
How often are the classes if you're full time?
How much does it cost to go per year?
What are the financial requirements?
Is a travel abroad trip required?
What are the basic rules?

Thanks for anything you know and you can tell me anything additional that you want. I checked out two websites, but they didn't answer all my questions. Thanks very much!!!

I am planning on going to college in New York. I know that must of the freshman at that college stay on campus and that is exactly what I plan to do.But what about when I am a fourth year in college. Can I still live on campus. The college gives need based scholarships and I am froma low income family. I cannot afford to live off campus because scholarship will only pay for me to live in the dorms. I know that I will never be able to afford a home/apartment in New York. Answers plaese. Tell me if i need to elaborate.

I am currently an assistant professor of speech at a small university, but I only have a Masters degree. I have come to the realization that (a) if I want to advance in my chosen career I will need a PhD, and (b) an online PhD is not going to happen. Therefore, I am probably going to end up leaving my job at some point and pursuing an PhD. For anyone who works or has experience in academia, would it be better for me to build up more experience in the job I am in for a few years and then go on for a PhD, or just go ahead and make the move?

I'm a recent college graduate. Currently working as a teacher's aide in a public school district. I hold a BA in Psychology and want to to go to graduate school this fall as a school social worker. I've been given conflicting advice about social work...that it is a flexible degree but it is low paying. Is it practical? Is there job stability? I've been accepted to one of the top social work schools but have been given little financial aid, and obviously as a teacher's aide I am not making much money so I'd have to take out loans. Is this worth it? I'm waiting to hear back from a lesser known school that may offer more financial aid. Anybody with an MSW out there, please advise. Thanks in advance.

St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York. I want to be a history major. The price of the school is high, but I wonder if that is just b/c of the beautiful campus. So is it a good school?

I was going to Ohio State in Columbus but I moved to Texas to escape the cold! However, my dad still lives in Ohio and I would like to go back and be near him and finish up my degree. I just want to live in Cincinnati, not Columbus. What are my options as far as colleges? Are there any public 4-year schools in Cincinnati? I am googling and doing my own research but wanted to see everyone's thoughts on this.

I got a 1590 on my GRE. Yay! But I can't figure out what I want to do. I don't have particularly great grades in my major, which is history. I've got some experience teaching, but I don't know if I want to keep doing it. I like art and computers, but I don't really have enough experience with either to be competitive.

I think I want to go to grad school, but I have no idea what in. I really want a job where I can be creative, and work with smart, creative people. Any one have any ideas?
