Higher Education (University +) - March 2007

I'm asking for layman's terms (Although you can include formulae as well if necessary - they justy need to be translated into words) because I'm a first-year university student and I'm only covering business statistics over one semester.

I understand that critical values are worked out using probability distributions, but in two tailed tests, the critical value - in my experience - is always 1.96 or 1.645.

Why is this so, and for the mean, what is the critical value there? Unless this is true, don't tell me it depends on question and statistics bering worked out - I'm talking about in terms of percentage here.

I know it's badly worded, but I've no idea how else to put it!! PLEASE help as best you can!

i recieved and invitation to sunday at the square for students admitted to the class of 2011. It says Matthew S. Santirocco cordially invited you and your parents on april 1. Does this mean that i got in to nyu? It doesnt look like an official acceptance but it does say for students admitted to the class of 2011.

I have been meaning to bring this to your attention: Some of the student and I in section 6 feel that the TA is not very helpful. It seems that he comes unprepared to labs and doesn't know most of the answers to our basic questions. He seems to change his mind several times when it comes to the answers to questions and is very unclear in explaining fundamentals for the lab-- fundamentals that us students should ultimately be familiar with for the culminating labs/exams. We feel "lost" and at a disadvantage in his class.

I am seeking a psychology degree and UofP offers a bachelors degree for this subject. I am not sure if I should do it or is I should slowly get one through a regular college while I am working full time also and seeking a Nursing degree, also.
