I think many Ph.D. degree holders, particularly those in the social sciences, want to land a tenured faculty position at the university/collegiate level. However, not all, or perhaps a majority end up in research or some applied position other than teaching. So, how difficult do you think is it to land a teaching job even with a Ph.D.?

I'm 24 and have a bachelors degree is psychology. I'm not finding any jobs in my field so I'm thinking of switching to nursing. I've already been in college for 5 years and my husband's patience is wearing thin because he's been supporting us while I've been in college and now I can't find a good job. I was going to get my MSW but I'm afraid I won't find good jobs in social work either.

If I become an RN I will pretty much be guaranteed a job and could eventually work as a psychiatric nurse.

What program would be quickest for me to become a RN? My undergrad GPA is a 3.5

I am an international student who have applied for the Phd
program and my application has been declined. I want to write
a letter for head of the graduate admission appealing him to
reconsider my application. Headlines to write in the letter:

- I have recently published a paper in my field, so the whole
world will see my work.
- My masters degree is from the United States.
- Current GPA is 3.5/4 which is good.
- Hard worker and I promise I will be hardworker in my PhD
program.
- Anything else which might help.

Please help me, and write a sample letter for me. It is so important for me to get admission.

I am thinking of going to an online school (AIU), and I will still be qualified to take the CPA exam.

Which would an employer more likely choose (both without experience)?
1. a person who finishes a brick and mortar college with a bachelor's degree in accounting or
2 a person who finishes an online college and gets a CPA.

My best friend got admitted in a ranked american university in spring for bachelor degree but he has been unable to attend due to very personal genuine reasons. He had informed the concerned staff that he would join classes in few days but its almost two months now. Would an American university still allow him for classes two months later? He is extremely upset about this but helpless. He is an international student.

I have bad GCSE, but great A-Levels do I have a chance for Oxbridge? my GCSE at school were crap and I wasn't really trying, I got mostly C's and D's but I worked hard at college and got 3 distinctions in my BTEC nationals (equivalent to 3 A's in A-levels) and an 'A' in my maths A-level. I know that my GCSE does not reflect my true ability but do I still have a chance for Oxford university and Cambridge university?

Please answer.............

I'm 16, going to an "alternative high school" not because of drugs or crime, but because i messed around in high school and didn't put enough effort in my work and failed all my classes. as i said before Im 16, and still have virtually no credits at all. if i get on the ball now, and try to finish up high school where I'm at, it'll take me till I'm 19 or 20, to graduate. still, i would graduate though. i actually hope to become a writer someday, and would start of for like two years at some community college, and then go four years at ISU, that's iowa state university. what are all of your thoughts on my predicament? should i give up? or keep on till i graduate, does it seem as if i still have a chance in this thing, or n? your opinions would be appreciated.

Right now I am in my first year of college and I'm currently attending a community college. Honestly, this isn't the way I picutred my college career going. I always thought of myself going to that great 4-year college since I did very well all through high school. I chose to go to this community college because it was a lot less money for the same thing, but I'm finding that I don't like it. I don't really take it seriously, I'm not sure why. Maybe I feel as if a community college isn't the real thing. I feel that maybe if I were at a 4-year college I would be happier and take it a lot more seriously. Also, I'm feeling so left out because my other friends and other people in genenral are getting that great "college experience" by living in the dorms and meeting new people. I guess my question is, do you think a 4-year college is the best thing for me?
