Looking to go back to school to finish surgical tech program. Love being in the OR -- dropped out to put hubby through school.

Those who are techs -- do you like it? pay okay? Or should I go for nursing and be an OR nurse?

Keep in mind I have a 5 yo, am 31, and looking to at least make more than my 20k a year if I end up leaving my husband so I can support my daughter.

TIA

Nurses make a lot more than techs but have more responsibility. Don't get me wrong, being a surgical tech is good to but honestly, they do most of the work in the OR. All the nurse really does is circulate. I think nurses are becoming more obsolete in the OR because of the growing use of surgical techs and CRNA (nurse anesthesia). You wouldn't have a problem getting a job as either, but sometimes nurses work more of a crazy schedule, depending on where you are.

Go for the RN. It'll really pay off.
