Right now I am in my first year of college and I'm currently attending a community college. Honestly, this isn't the way I picutred my college career going. I always thought of myself going to that great 4-year college since I did very well all through high school. I chose to go to this community college because it was a lot less money for the same thing, but I'm finding that I don't like it. I don't really take it seriously, I'm not sure why. Maybe I feel as if a community college isn't the real thing. I feel that maybe if I were at a 4-year college I would be happier and take it a lot more seriously. Also, I'm feeling so left out because my other friends and other people in genenral are getting that great "college experience" by living in the dorms and meeting new people. I guess my question is, do you think a 4-year college is the best thing for me?

you should go to one. this way you can live out your dream of living in a dorm, etc. maybe not an out of state one though, b/c it costs more to do that. i would suggest going to one maybe an hour -5 hours away from home. this way if you ever want to come back and visit home its within a few hours drive. but then its far away where you dont know anyone and can make friends.

I think you are looking at other's lives with a little green in your eyes. Look at your situation with a little more perspective. There is nothing wrong with going to a community college. In fact if you grad with an AA you will have less classes to take at a 4 yr college. I got out of four classes by transfering an associates. Like you said it is also cheaper. You can also get scholarships for transfering. You can make friends wherever you go. It is up to you to have a social life, it doesn't just come with the college you attend. Get out there and meet some new people, ask friends from class to get together and hang out. More than likely there are others that feel the same way! Make the most of where you are at now!

Going to a community college is a great way to throw away your life. Go to a proper university now while you still have the chance-- you'll be gald you spent the extra money.

Yes, find a college far away in another state and go there. there will be less distractions.
