I am an international student who have applied for the Phd
program and my application has been declined. I want to write
a letter for head of the graduate admission appealing him to
reconsider my application. Headlines to write in the letter:

- I have recently published a paper in my field, so the whole
world will see my work.
- My masters degree is from the United States.
- Current GPA is 3.5/4 which is good.
- Hard worker and I promise I will be hardworker in my PhD
program.
- Anything else which might help.

Please help me, and write a sample letter for me. It is so important for me to get admission.

You may certainly write a letter of appeal, but I am sorry to tell you that you have little chance of success for admission this year.

PhD programs are very competitive, and only admit a certain number of students each year. Also, the Director of Graduate Studies cannot overturn the decision of the admissions committee.

My best advice is to reapply next year. Make sure you apply to a variety of programs that suit your particular area of specialization, and have faculty working in the specific area of your interest.

You may want to ask the Director of Graduate Studies how to strengthen your application for next year's round of admissions.
