I am seeking a psychology degree and UofP offers a bachelors degree for this subject. I am not sure if I should do it or is I should slowly get one through a regular college while I am working full time also and seeking a Nursing degree, also. I was going to get a RN degree through a campus and take online for a PH.D in psych and start online? What do you think? i am still a freshman. Any advice?

Anything from a University of Phoenix/DeVry or anything online is not going to be respected very highly in any professional environment. A Bachelor's of Psychology doesn't do a whole lot for you from a regular university let alone UofP. My opinion is that these diploma mills or for-profit universities are a total waste of money.

(This isn't to say that a Bachelors in Psychology from a regular university is a bad idea, but should be thought of as a springboard into a very general job market or for graduate school--any real college degree is going to help your job opportunities).

I would suggest going to a University full or part-time for your Psych and/or Nursing degree (depending on your interest), the latter will give you many many high-paying opportunities in the future.

A Ph.D. in Psychology online will do ABSOLUTELY nothing for you. And a Bachelor's from a for-profit or online school will not get you into any legitimate graduate program.

UofP is not an easy school to get a degree from. There is a lot of writing to do in the classes and you can only take one class at a time. Each class is 6 weeks long.

With your current workload might make it very hard for you to successfully complete the assignments at UofP.

I found the UoP to be a little expensive. They really seem to have good online courses though. You are required to spend a certain amount of time online, you can meet with students & the teacher online when it's convenient for you....etc. I think they have a good set-up and that they are very organized, but I think it's always best to take regular classes when possible. Online classes take a lot of discipline. If you're not sure you have the discipline, just try taking 1 or 2 classes first. If you have no problems, you should go for it. They are pretty well accredited.

University of phoenix is not for quitters.Number one, university of phoenix is hard,iw rite alot of papers. You willc ome across bad and good instructors.some in it for the money and some who really want to teach you.As for online learning its becoming the new thing but phoenix is not only online,i wish people would stop thinking this way, they have physical campus's that meet one night a week. It's all up to an employer, and if phoenix were that bad they would not be the largest private college. Not every employer is gonna value ur degree, but you will find people who will. Some emplyers look down on people who went to harvard even because they carry this stuck up attitude. Some employers look down on people who went to state universities for the same reason,or because alot of state university students just party party and drink drink.Americans are a bunch of babies.Just go with what your mind is set on,because life has no gurantees but if you try hard enough you get to where ur going because there ARE people who willr espect your degree and if you beileve different then thats insane. No one knows EVERYONE in the world.take it from me
