I think once you've undertaken a course and got government funding, that may well be your lot, unless you work in an organisation that actively supports the personal and academic development of its staff to the extent that it will fund any courses that are relevant to the organisation.
If you're looking to expand your experience within something though, why not try volunteering for and getting involved with a charity? They are always looking for fundraisers and other personnel and you may well find that this is more beneficial in the long run career-wise. You may also meet some new people and make good friends at the same time!

learn direct do free maths and english courses, if not you could be allegible to get help towards your fees from open uni?
