Machine dispensing or online pharmacies. Threaten to take away jobs of pharmacists.

You counter by talking about how patient counseling is vital because a human can insure a patient truly understands how to take the medication and can answer the patients questions. A label and set of instructions don't do that. Also, a software program really can't check through a patient's medical history and make sure there aren't any bad drug interactions.

Machine dispensing and online pharmacies are not seen as problems. Machines are more of an issue for pharmacy technicians. Also, online pharmacies are not seen as trustworthy. They are not regulated well. In the U.S., there are only 12 VIPPS certified online pharmacies, and not all of them actually dispense drugs online. Walgreens is technically VIPPS certified though they don't have online dispensing.
The major issue is one of reimbursement. The amount pharmacies see is decreasing. For medicade, we are close to the point of losing money per prescription. Expect to see more pharmacies refusing medicade.
Also, the implentation of cognitive services and getting paid for them. Medicare part D allows reimbursement for Medication therapy management. Some private insurance companies also cover it.
