Frankly, I don't think they will approve. I for one would not. But then again, my son has never asked for my approval. It's his life and he lives it the best way he sees fit. My approval or disapproval is only "consultative". In any case I'll be by his side and take pride in his acts regardless of the career choices he makes, as long as he chooses to live like a honest man.
I'm sure your parents will be the same!
They will be proud of you regardless of your career as long as you will be a true and honest person and really make something out of your life.
As to piloting, since my best friend is a pilot I can say that although entering pilot school is tough (health should be perfect - down to teeth and nails) and finishing it is rough, it is absolutely nothing next to actually flying. Regardless of your choice of becoming a military or civilian pilot.
Good luck! It's a tough but extremely rewarding life provided you actually love to fly!
