I am in a 100 level Sociology class. For a mid-term take home assignment that has to be completed over spring break this is what the teacher gave us: There are 16 questions, each answer has to be 1 and a half pages. it's double spaced but it still seems outrageous to me. I feel to expect students to do this over sring break is crazy. I want to talk to the teacher about it, but I want to know if you think this assignment is acceptable. I'm not trying to by whiny, but can you honestly tell me the teacher wants to grade all that work? What stinks is we'll spend all that time working on it and she'll probably just glance at it.

This question is mostly directed at students living in milwaukee wisconsin, but not limited to.
I was just wondering what people would recommend, prefer, advantages, and disadvantages over one or the other. I am debating whether or not I should get an apartment or try out the dorms, it will be my first year, and I will be moving from about 2 hours away. I am currently not in high school, and basically can move whenever I want. I guess my car situation kind of plays a role in this decision also.. I currently have a car that is about to die any day, and I was wondering if it would even be worth it to get a new one (maybe a free one because my birthday is coming up), or just be car-less. SOO basically, would it be a good idea/cheaper to get a dorm, and have no car... or to have a car and live in an apartment.

Okay I was looking through my class schedule book for summer courses and ran across a class under the physical education section called "Softball". Would a course on softball just be like strategy of the game, or would it be like demensions of the field and stuff like that or would they actually let us get out on the field and play?

This thursday I am meeting with the scholarship committee at my hospital. They will interview me and determine whether I qualify for the scholarship. I really need this scholarship bc my parents arent rich enough to pay for everything in college and I do not qualify for any financial aid. Can yall plz give me some tips on how to rock that interview. (maybe some from personal experience that worked). What would make the committee really like me? I am really shy and nervous when it comes to these types of things so I would really appreciate some good help. The scholarship being offered is only for students majoring in the medical field. My major is pharmacy. Thanks for the help.

I am a freshman at UC San Diego, having a difficult time studying. I'm smart, I just can't find the motivation to work harder (stress is eating me up). Right now I should be studying for my chem final tomorrow... I've heard that grad school is the new college, and that if you want a good job, you have to go. Is that true? And if I graduate with a C average (or slightly higher), can I get into a decent graduate program for some sort of biological science? Also, any tips on staying motivated?

I once spoke to a girl who came here to Ireland to study because she said that even having to pay the fee for non-eu citizens, it was still cheaper than paying in the U.S..
Does it bother Americans that they must work so hard to get an education which those living in most European countries get for free?

I graduated with a BA English last year, but in the past year, I've began creative writing. Although I majored in English I didn't take any creative writing courses. I now want to apply to several MFA in Creative Writing programs, but none of my former professors are familiar with my work. Do I have any chance of getting accepted, especially since I haven't published anything and none of my recommendation letters will be from professors who can comment on my creative writing? What do you think?

In December, I was deferred (applied for early admission but was told that I was going to go through regular admission) from the University of Virginia. It is my dream school. I have had a very good first semester (4 A's, 1 B+ and a B in AP Calculus) but I was forced in my second quarter of the first semster to switch out of Latin 4 as I could not handle both the course academically for there was a test every single day but I had to help my family as my Mom developed cancer and my Dad had to move to Wyoming for a job to keep my family financially secure. I explained this to all my colleges. Do I have a chance? I know many of you will say that I shouldn't rely on just this college (I've already gotten two acceptances) but it is really the college I want to go to, ever since sixth grade. Seriously, what is my chance at going to UVA?

I made a list of colleges I want to apply to in October. I want to stay in Southern California, but I still want to go to a college that will get me a good job after I get out. With my 3.74 gpa, I don't think I can get into USC, UCLA, or UCB (which are well known for Business), but I definitely don't want to go to a Community College. I'm planning to major in Business Management, Marketing, or International Business, most likely International Business. Which of these schools do you think will get me the best paying job after college?
1. CSU Long Beach*
2. CSU Fullerton*
3. UCI (Business Eco.)
4. UCLA

(*school I can definetly get into)

I'm also open to other schools in the Los Angeles county area if you have suggestions.
