Right now I'm looking for a textbook called Data Structure and Algorithm Analysis in Java. I have found it really cheap as an international edition, and they claim to be just like the US edition.

Are they really the same or is there some big difference that they're not informing me about? Why would the international version be so much cheaper?

I finished a liberal arts BA in 04'. I'm 28 now. Lately, I feel my education is not inabling me for challenging careers (I do crap office work for a corporation-business is the profession of dullness and I feel is for those who lack any ounce of imagination).
Over the past months I've found myself intensely interested in physics/astronomy and other sciences. It seems science has a potential that I wrongfully dismissed in my early years, a potential that could satisfy me more intellectually and career-wise. The only problem is time and money. I'm already 28. By the time I would start a new major I'd be 29-probably 33 when I finish. I still have 20 grand of loan payments from my first degree. My parents and girlfriend are against the idea-saying I should spend my time and money, if I decide to go back to school, on a master's in my field. Anyone deal with these issues? How did it turn out for you? Are there other things besides time and money I should be considering that I'm not? Thank

I've applied and interviewed at a school for my Psy.D. (Clinical Psychology). The program accepts up to 27 people per year and interviewed roughly 75-80. I was just informed that I am on the alternate list. I'm wondering what my realistic odds are for acceptance. Anyone know?

i have a question regarding volunteer opportunities that are helath-related
do med. schools think it is useless for you to volunteer in Gift Shops of hospitals? because albeit the fact the shop is in a hospital, all you are doing is selling goods which leans towards more to the retail area than health. is it an irrelevant volunteer job?

Heres the deal. I am facing mounting pressure from a particular class in the midst of 4 classes and having to work. This professor is just terrible. He bounces around from one topic to another and then after going on and on for 10 minutes on his tyrade..he returns to the lecture. I honestly do not think it wise to risk a C or C+ in this guys class because i have a 2.30 gpa. I had a bad first semester...where i ended up with a 1.65 gpa. the second semester i made good grades to pull it up to a 2.30. I cannot risk anything less than a B+ in my classes. The question is, if you were in my position and wanted to get in to law school...would you drop a class and salvage the other classes with higher grades, or would you risk accepting less than a B just to hurry up and finish? Do law schools frown more on lower gpa's or withdrawls? help!

I finished all of the Major requirements (11 classes of Poli Sci, with a 3.3 GPA in those classes). I am, however about 2 or 3 classes short of a few other requirements (1 or 2 histories for my cognate and 1 Spanish for my foreign language). My question is, with over 140 hours of undergraduate work and all of my requirements met for my major, can I put down on a job application or resume that I have a 4 year degree in Political Science? How many companies/employers actually verify degree completion? Etc. Etc. Can someone give me advice on this or point me in the right direction. I won't be able to take any classes for another 3 or 4 years, so keep that in mind. Thanks a bunch guys....

I have always been told that during college selection, major will not matter during the selection process. However, I have been rejected from a UC and I don't understand why. Another person, who applied got in. I beat the person's GPA, she had a 3.2 and i had a 3.41. She had a 1680 SAT scorew while I have an 1810. I've read her essay, so that's not why she got in. We are in almost the same clubs and sports. The only difference is she applied for Psycology and I applied for Business Economics. For future refences for the jrs. does major matter when you apply to college?
