sure you can go to school...you'll just have to pay for it yourself. no student loans or grants for convicted felons.

Some universities DO accept people with a felony, but USUALLY you need to go to a community college first. Your best bet is to email or call an advisor at the school and ask their input.
There was a similar comment in another question (that's now closed) but I included the link to help with some ideas.
Good luck!

seven years will clear you form the felony as long as you are off paper, but if you are a convicted felon you are not going to be able to work as a veternarian since you can not handle narcotics you need to think of going into another proffession

You can. One of my students is a felon. He served time.
Contact the admissions department at Staten Island College and talk over your situation with them.
Staten Island College is a good choice for you, because they are CUNY, and they function, in some ways, as a community college as well as a four-year school. I believe that their associates-level programs are open admissions. They are also relatively inexpensive, which will help you pay for the school.
There are actually grants and scholarships out there specifically for felons. Again, speak to admissions about what options are open to you.

If you can get a college degree while in prison (and you can) -- then it is clear that you can get one with a felony record.

It is my understanding that if you have satisfied the judicial requirements (served the time and or paid any fines associated)...then you may enroll in a college or university in which you meet their criteria for enrollment in any other way. Also, I suggest that you speak with any parole officer who may be able to refer you to the Department of Rehabilitation.
If they ask a question pertaining to your record, answer honestly. If in doubt of the non-discriminatory practices at a particular college or university, speak with your attorney to learn if he or she may recommend someone to represent you in the event that you perceive discriminatory practices at which ever school you enroll in.
You did something wrong...you paid your debt to society...get over it...outgrow the pattern of repetitivity!
Of course, be sensible, they will probably watch you like a hawk. However, you should not be singled out; you should not be humiliated; and you should be given a fair chance to earn your grades ... just like anyone else.

In general yes but you will have a problem if you want to go in to a program such as teaching or social work which would require a criminal record check.
