I've applied and interviewed at a school for my Psy.D. (Clinical Psychology). The program accepts up to 27 people per year and interviewed roughly 75-80. I was just informed that I am on the alternate list. I'm wondering what my realistic odds are for acceptance. Anyone know?

I actually work in as advisor in a department that offers a PhD in Counseling Psyc. We interview 25 people and accept 10-13 people with the anticipation of on 8-10 enrolling. This year we held 4 alternates. Your chances depend significantly on how many people decline the program and where you are in the alternate pool. Financial funding plays a HUGE role in this as students who aren't offered a firm aid package are more likely to take other offers at schools that may not be their first choice, but offer aid. PhD programs like these are running around 75,000-100,000 depending on the school and residency requirements. The national APA deadline for acceptance is 4/15 so you should know something by then if the program is accredited.

Good LUCK!

Unless this is a school at the very top in the field, your odds are probably pretty good. There may be several students who are accepted at higher ranking schools and will turn down the offer to your school.

In the event that you do not get in, you may consider taking classes (perhaps for a master's there), getting to know the faculty and applying again.

Good luck.

sure its no longer some thing to be embarrassed about and it makes you look more beneficial hardworking once you've undesirable grades because of a attending to understand disability and not in any respect basically because you've been lazy. the progression of your grade also shows how a lot of a dedicated determined worker you're so, sure truthfully worth declaring :)
