Gandhi once said, ”Nonviolence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.” Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, born on October 2, 1869, was born to a poor family in Portbandar, India. By the mid 19th century, Britain had conquered most of India's geographic and political regions, but eventually became economically dependent on India. However, for the people of India, this not only created a huge economic downfall, but it also caused starvation that killed 30 million alone. Sometimes I feel like my dad really couldn't understand how knee-deep I am from school. Do you think because of technology and the improvement of communications students have to cram bigger amounts of stuff into their brains as well as their schedule? I mean I'm no baby, I'll do what I have to do, but sometimes it really seems totally ridiculous, and my parents are on a different page with me when I discuss it with them.

I didn't sign up for the orientation right away, because I thought I would be free all summer and I would be fine, signing up later for a later time, however, my grandmother is dying, and my family booked us a flight to Japan for a stay of 5 weeks in June to August, to stay with the rest of the family. The only orientation times left are those in July to August. Ugh, I know I should have signed up earlier, but at the time, I was not even considering going to this college, but due to a recent, severe financial crisis I am most likely going here. I was also waiting to earn enough money for the flight and orientation fee/ other stuff AND the only computer and internet I have available were not working for a long time. GUUH, what should I do? This is such a small issue compared to my grandma's health, but its mandatory. Should I call the college, what should I say? I can't bother my parents right now, and don't want to add to their stress over this and family leeches. Help me please...

I am from Canada, but wanted to apply to some universities in USA. Do they often accept international applicants? And is there funding (tuition waivers, housing, fellowships, etc)? Or are these funds more accessible to US citizens? USA has some great schools for English, and I'd love to go to one to broaden my perspectives.

I am interested in pharmacy, and I have researched it and there are a lot of career opportunities. However, I don't know for sure if that's what I want to do, and I don't want to waste time/money taking the courses to get into a pharmacy school if I am just going to change my mind. Is it better to go in undecided, just declare a broad major (like biology or chemistry), or work towards the pharmacy degree? What have been your experiences with picking majors?
