You might first consider what kind of news anchor you want to be. Do you want to be one who reads content on the air that others generated? Or do you want to generate content that either you or others can read on the air?
There are a couple of different ways into the industry. The obvious answer would be broadcast journalism or communication, which will position you specifically for this industry.
But there are other avenues into the field that will make you a valuable, and perhaps more flexible, commodity.
You can major in a field that will help you understand and analyze a situation of interest to the general public, which can then be reported to the public. For example, political science, economics, religion, area studies, medicine, government, etc.
If you want to travel, become versatile, and be positioned to become a "complete" reporter/news anchor/analyst, you might consider majoring in a topic area, coupled with coursework in journalism and communication.
In broadcast journalism, you become an expert in the process of "reporting". But the other way around, you become an expert in a field. Experts (if they have the aptitude for reporting) can become generalist news anchors, but not all news anchors can become credible analysts.
It all just depends on what interests you.
Good luck!
