Don't give into the cynicism that others may write about philosophy.

If you want to work specifically in the field of philosophy, teaching is the most obvious option.

But philosophy also gives you a powerful foundation if you want to go into the helping professions, because it gives you perspectives on the purpose of human existence and life, power and society. It's also helpful if you're interested in pursuing theology and some form of ministry. Philosophy will also help you if you want to be become a writer.

Applied philosophy is important in the formulation of ethics in business and in the new emerging fields in science and medicine in which science and technology tend to outstrip the human capacity for using it wisely.

Beyond its practical applications, philosophy gives you the mental agility to conceptualize and to analyze complex situations, which may not have a clear answer. Such situations may be trends and events in politics, business, industry, society.

If you are attracted to the study of philosophy, you can use it to appreciate the purpose, complexity, and beauty of your own life.

I hope this helps!

If you major in philosophy, you will be strong in several skills that are applicable to most jobs, including self employment:
logic, critical thinking skills, organizational ability, and research and writing skills. You will also have a richer and more satisfying life. Have you ever read that book "Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow"?
