A semester is one term. For example, the first semester is august through december, and the second semester would be from January through May. So, there are 2 semesters a year, and some schools offer mini-semesters over the holidays. Usually you take a class for longer hours then, and can get it done in the shorter time allowed.

It looks as if MSU runs 2 semesters per year (fall inf spring) If you currently resinde instate it will cost you about $14,937
per year for tution, housing (on campus) and fees, and out of state will run about $27,582 per year. Books and lab fees are estimated at an additional $885 year (but u can buy books online for a fraction of the price-or do like I do and borrow from friends) These prices are for a student who is going full time and taking 4 classes a semester. (Oh and dont get discouraged over pricing, for that is what student loans are for.)
Hope this helps and good luck!!!
