Higher Education (University +) - March 2007

My husband is an Active Duty Marine, and we are about to move. I would like to continue my education, but most likely will have to do so online.
Could anyone give me a list of good online schools?
I do not want phoenix online, or any other of those.
I want and need a good college.

I'm 35 years old and will be starting college for the first time this fall. I would love to study law and become a criminal trial lawyer. I'm afraid i'm too old considering I'll be 42 when I finish.
Can a 42 year old woman realistically expect to compete and advance in law firms or the DA's office?

Hi I'm tempted to just do english alone at university, I've been accepted into english with modern history & english with philosophy at a really outstanding UK uni. The uni has said it would be possible to swap philosophy for international studies or politics which gives me more options to confuse myself with. Is english on it's own going to limit career opportunities?

I was wondering what percentage of the people got admitted to a PhD program after finishing just their undergraduate and in what field. Also for those who did a Master's in an aim to gain admission to a PhD program, do you believe that significantly increased your chances for admission? Also do you think writing a Master's thesis versus taking the exam or the project option is a must in that situation?

I am a 19 year old college student. In high school I did not have a good writing/english education and am greatly paying for it in college. I have taken some writing classes in college, but really don't enjoy it and cannot extensively study it as I have other pre-recs to fulfill. I was wondering if there were any 'how to' books on writing. I know that sounds ridiculous, but if there's one out there I think it could help me get more organized in my writing. I'm looking for something that is going to focus on essay writing but I am also interested in other forms of writing. I'm also interested in improving grammar. I need something that is going to be an easy read. I think if the book is too complicated I'm going to loose interest.

I enrolled in a community college intending to go on to a four year institution and eventually get my PhD in psychology. However, after a semester and a half of study, I've decided that the academic life just isn't for me. I do fine in my classes. I currently have a 3.0 GPA. I'm just not willing to deal with the hassle anymore. I miss my friends back home.

I'm digressing. The point is that I don't want to walk away with just a handful of credits and a bunch of student loan bills. I want to continue on to get my associate's degree at least. Which associate's degree major would be the most valuable?
