I was wondering what percentage of the people got admitted to a PhD program after finishing just their undergraduate and in what field. Also for those who did a Master's in an aim to gain admission to a PhD program, do you believe that significantly increased your chances for admission? Also do you think writing a Master's thesis versus taking the exam or the project option is a must in that situation?

I am interested in Physics but most major universities only admit students with PhD objective, not Master's. This policy is similar along other sciences such as Biology and Chemistry. So I was wondering how many people who have majored in Physics or other sciences, get a Master's, let's say at a state university, before applying to a PhD program.

I don't think is possible to go for a PhD without a Master.

It would be helpful if you stated what field you are looking for your PhD in because that varies from field to field.

Good Luck!!!
