I made a list of colleges I want to apply to in October. I want to stay in Southern California, but I still want to go to a college that will get me a good job after I get out. With my 3.74 gpa, I don't think I can get into USC, UCLA, or UCB (which are well known for Business), but I definitely don't want to go to a Community College. I'm planning to major in Business Management, Marketing, or International Business, most likely International Business. Which of these schools do you think will get me the best paying job after college?
1. CSU Long Beach*
2. CSU Fullerton*
3. UCI (Business Eco.)
4. UCLA

(*school I can definetly get into)

I'm also open to other schools in the Los Angeles county area if you have suggestions.

UCLA is definately the most prominent, and that's always a plus when applying. However, I would strongly caution you if you feel the school alone will get you a job. While you're there, you have to be taking jobs and working over the summer in the field of your interest. A higher education degree is really helpful, but it's the experience you gain while in college that helps you land a job.

None of the CSU schools are very selective or very prestigious. All of the UC schools are very good. UCLA, UCB, UC-Davis and UCSD are all better than UCI -- but UCI is WAY better than any CSU school.

If your SATs are good -- you have a shot at a UC school, so apply. Since you are thinking about schools now -- that means you are probably a junior. You can improve your GPA by doing well in AP classes.

If you can graduate in the top 10% of your class, then as a CA resident, you are guaranteed entry to at least one UC school.

UCLA is a good school. However, your question "which of the schools... listed will get you the best paying job?" does not have a real answer. Getting a good-paying job is dependent on many factors and is not dependent solely on your choice of school (For example, you may have gradutated from UCLA but had real lousy grades, employers will not see that as a positive sign). Besides, my suggestion is that you choose a school based on its appeal to you as a center of learning rather than its economic returns. That way, you will not be miserable with your choice.

All of those are good schools, but don't just look at the the university name. You need to contact the dean's offices for each "business school" within those universities. You need to find out graduation rates, how many employers come every semester to recruit from those business programs, what types of employers and even the names of the employers (Google, IBM, etc) that recruit from those "business schools".

The business schools at those universities should be able to give you information on how much their graduates are being offered upon graduation. This will bring you closer to your answer
