I love looking at LCD pictures. But unfortunately, we do not have HDTV braodcast yet. Blu-Ray/HD-DVDs are not yet common in our place. (I live in the Philippines). The best I can come up with is the DVD's component/progressive scan. So that means, I will only be watching 480p max. Are there any models out there that are LCD, 27" EDTV only, wide screen, and with component input.. I do not want models that are HDTV/HDTV-Ready because I will only be paying for features that I won't use. The only models I see are Sharp Aquos but they are not wide screen. Other wide screens I see are computer monitors but are connected only via DVI or HDMI, no component.

Thanks.

My laptop happily connects to my plasma tv and i see what's going on and what not, no problems there.
The problem is, i see things, but don't hear anything through the tv speakers, just the laptop ones.

Any ideas how to get the sounds though the tv?
Thanks!

OK I dont know if this exists or not but Ill do my best to describe it. Its a box like a vcr, dvd player, or tvio. And you can put a dvd inside it and it will download it into its system. For an example I put a Fresh Prince of Bel Air dvd into it and chose wich episode I want downloaded onto it. Then Ill put a Simpsons DVD and chose which episode I want, then I will put a movie, and so forth. And when Im done I can watch them in that order like its a tv station without changing any disks. I know my explanation my be week, but if it does exist nd you know please tell me. Thanks a bunch :D

A button(don't know which one) was accidently pushed on our tv remote. Now the tv screen is a light gray color. There is no picture and no sound. We read the instruction manual and have not figured out what the problem is. We'd like to fix it ourselves rather than have someone come and fix it. Any idea of what the problem could be? We'd really appreciate it. The tv is a JVC.

If HDTV will take over broadcasting in 2009 then how does that affect cable television?
--> if people don't have hdtv, can they receive signal from their cable source but still using their anolog tv?
--> when will hdtv take over cable, like when will cable box require you to have hd tv?
--> In 2009, will cable television be in widescreen format?
--> Is it worth to buy hdtv or analog tv tuner for laptop now?

Does a high quality expensive scart lead help with picture quality on an lcd tv. Remember i am in the UK and we don't have High Def much yet unless you pay over the odds for it. Also, is it normal for an lcd tv to turn images into 'blocks', expecailly fast moving pictures. Does this have something to do with the refresh rate?

I'm considering upgrading to a 50 in. DLP HDTV from my 32 in. old school set, and currently have Dish Network.

Because the current HD promming is limited and costly, I'm not sure I want to pop for the HD programming. Is it worth getting the new TV based on the regular broadcast quality of Dish? The TV I'm looking at is a Samsung with 1920 x 1080p capability.

Thanks for your help.
