Wal*Mart takes almost anything back! It helps to have a receipt, but if you don't, they will just scan the bar codes or item tags, and this will show whether the item actually came from a Wal*Mart...but if you do not have a receipt, you will be given the lowest price the item ever sold for...hope this helps! :)

The location should not matter when dealing with a major national or regional retailer.

You do not indicate how long ago the TV set was purchased. Unfortunately, many major chain discounters in the USA, such as Wal-Mart, place a time limit on returns/exchanges. To verify if you are within those time limits, ask your sister for the "gift receipt" she should have been given along with the actual payment receipt. It tells the store when that item was purchased, and for what amount. The amount of time lapsed may determine if you can obtain a refund, a store credit, or no credit for the TV.

If a gift receipt is not available, ask your sister for the cash/credit card receipt. Or, if your sister paid by credit card, a copy of the credit card, showing the TRANSACTION NUMBER, will enable an experienced Customer Service supervisor to verify "in reverse" the transaction value. Yes, this is unpleasant to ascertain just how much your sister paid, but you will learn that anyway, if what you really seek is a refund or credit, versus an exchange.

Above all, approaching the Customer Service personnel with positively-toned phrases such as, "I would like to..." and, "How may I..." can go a long way towards a willingness to try to be flexible or creative in achieving a solution satisfactory to you, the customer--they should WANT your business again, if they are well-trained.

Any Walmart will take it back as long as you have the receipt. If your sister paid cash, you will get cash back. If your sister paid with a credit card, her card will be credited. You can also exchange it for one without problems.

Without a receipt, I believe walmart will still take it back for store credit (which you can use to purchase anything in the store).

Once I bought a phone from a Wal-Mart in one state and returned it at a Wal-Mart in another state. I even lost the receipt during my trip. They were nice enough. Good luck.

Wal Mart will take anything back. I know a guy who buys their cheap shoes and then takes them back to exchange for a new pair when they wear out a couple months later. He hasnt bought (paid for) a pair shoes in years

you can take it back to any Walmart and most of the time you wont need the receipt, it is helpful though.

The only problem might be that you'll need a receipt to prove when/where it was purchased (for the warranty).
