LCD tv's are not very good with old vhs tapes but you should get some picture even though it wont be as good as a dvd,you dont say how it is connected to the set,if it is via scart lead make sure it is fully inserted into the right input (check your manual) you could also try connecting the rf lead (ie Aerial) put a tape in press play and while the tape is playing put your tv into search for channels untill it picks up the signal from the video recorder, but to be honest try investing in a dvd recorder as they are very cheap these days and are far superior, you can then just transfer all your cherished tapes to dvd as i have done with all mine,Hopes this helps you.

Without knowing how you're connecting the VCR to the TV set, it is difficult to say what the reason is. But have you tried plugging just the VCR directly to the TV with no other devices? If you have and the picture is still very poor or no picture at all, try a different cable (I'm assuming that the VCR worked with your old CRT TV). If you still can't get any picture, check if the VCR has not been changed to NTSC and not PAL (Europe, or the other way round if N.America), if it has the facility for this.

It shouldn't decrease to rubble the television, in spite of the undeniable fact that it probable won't seem very stable if that's an HDTV liquid crystal exhibit (and extremely almost all new liquid crystal exhibit's are), because it is going to could upscale to the close by decision (maximum possibly 720p). CRT television would not have that situation, no longer even the HD ones, because of the way they artwork. particular they're enormous and heavy, yet threat is you're no longer likely to be shifting the television almost as in many cases as you would be observing it. Plus they provide a lot greater valuable reaction time, assessment, and coloration rendition, as nicely to a appreciably decrease value.

Find the button that selects the various input sources. They may have names like Tuner, VGA, Component, Composite. You must switch every time you go from DVD to TV tuner.
