I love looking at LCD pictures. But unfortunately, we do not have HDTV braodcast yet. Blu-Ray/HD-DVDs are not yet common in our place. (I live in the Philippines). The best I can come up with is the DVD's component/progressive scan. So that means, I will only be watching 480p max. Are there any models out there that are LCD, 27" EDTV only, wide screen, and with component input.. I do not want models that are HDTV/HDTV-Ready because I will only be paying for features that I won't use. The only models I see are Sharp Aquos but they are not wide screen. Other wide screens I see are computer monitors but are connected only via DVI or HDMI, no component.

Thanks.

Honestly? It'll be hard to find ED since HDTV have taken over the market. You should look into LCD computer monitors, I know I've seen some that have component inputs built into them, but you'd need a set of speakers to get any sound. I've found 4:3 EDs but not so much in the wide screen format which would be easier found in monitors.

Check on e-Bay for older models. All new sets being introduced are widescreen, and most with 1080-line resolution. Widescreen 480-line TVs are pretty rare (if any). Go for the 720-line models; they are inexpensive now that 1080p is coming out. They will display your 480p widescreen sources very nicely.
