ok guys heres my question, i just got my first HD tv and i'm kidda stumped on witch cable to use, i have never used anyone of these before and i'm looking to get the best picture, i want be upgrading to the hd dishnet box because around here its only about 20 hd channels i think, please help me chose between the s-video cable or the hdmi cables, please any info would be very helpful. like i said i've never used anyone of these before !!!!

HDMI is the only cable that you can use that will give you true digital high-definition and carry your audio digitally in 2 channels. even though you will be using the high grade cables(should you choose to use them) you will only get a high-def pic from a high-def source i.e. the high-def channels from Dishnet in your case. if you decide to go with S-video, you will not get the picture quality as S-video is not equipped to carry the amount of information needed to achieve a high-def picture. now component video can carry high-def also o a certain point. component cables carry only your picture up to 720P resolution, and it is not a digital connection

HDMI is best, but component cable (red, green. blue) are pretty good, too. Do not use any others, they will not carry HD.

HDMI is best if all your devices support it, otherwise S-Video.

S-Video is analog and degrades the digital signals.
