Does a high quality expensive scart lead help with picture quality on an lcd tv. Remember i am in the UK and we don't have High Def much yet unless you pay over the odds for it. Also, is it normal for an lcd tv to turn images into 'blocks', expecailly fast moving pictures. Does this have something to do with the refresh rate?

Generally speaking, you will see a better picture if you use higher quality cables (QED, for instance). Remember, cables cannot improve the performance of your TV, only allow it to work at its best.

Blocking (or 'artifacts') on LCD TVs are usually caused by one of two things -

1) Poor reception. If artifacts occur during certain weather conditions, you may need to upgrade your aerial.
2) Poor quality television. Unfortunately, many cheaper LCD TVs (Goodmans, HiSense, Cyberhome, Kenmark, Proline, Grundig, DMTech, etc.) simply cannot produce good quality pictures. If you see artifacts when playing DVDs, it's your TV (or possibly DVD player...) that is at fault.

Is the Sky field set for RGB and plugged into an RGB in a position SCART socket on the television. RGB will look way extra advantageous than Composite Video. try swapping the containers over and notice if that makes a distinction. If it does and you may no longer set the two television sockets to RGB you've gotten the potential to run the Sky field RGB and the DVD participant SVHS, besides the undeniable fact that purchase a SCART change yet make useful it switches RGB on the two inputs, extra affordable ones in basic terms activate one. Very undesirable high quality SCART leads have all the wires bundled including purely one basic screening. you may get crosstalk between diverse indicators working interior the cable. extra advantageous SCART leads have the crimson green Blue and Composite Video wires all in my view screened which stops the crosstalk. ideally you may take the conceal off the SCART plug and notice in the event that they are screened or no longer, if the keep won't enable you, purchase the thicker cable, 12mm ish. Nasty ones are extra like 6mm. neglect gold connectors, they dont often make a large distinction to the photograph. in case you have an previous formed television keep interior sight ask them. they are going to in all risk have the potential to sell you something suited for in basic terms £10. those type of £50 SCART leads are taking the piss.

A higher quality standard scart lead will be able to pass signals without the signal degradation of a basic "cheap" lead so you should expect to see a better picture with cleaner sound.A good lead cannot improve a poor signal from a cheap piece of equipment though.

good quality gold leads will give a slight improvement on picture. they give a better improvement on sound. it sounds more like an ariel problem. you can go on the http://www.freeview.co.uk/home web site and find out the signal strength in your area. you could also try an indoor digital ariel which work well with freeview. Argos give a 16 day moneyback guarantee so if it didn't help you haven't lost anything.
